making super an anime series was a mistakethey should have kept the movie format and expanded the story in the same way they are for the manga. it would space out the story nicely as well.

If I get too caught up in dissecting it while it's still ongoing, yes it might compromise my enjoyment of it and I don't want that to happen.

MGSV is only similar to Super in the sense that it deviates from what the source material is/has been/should be. But where MGSV differs is that, while it branches off from what was traditionally a staple of the source material, it manages to be good on its own, or in its own way. Super is a bad anime no matter how you swing it, and the only thing keeping it going is nostalgia. But that doesn't have to be the case, because clearly, from what we see in the manga and the two movies, Toriyama can still make cool storylines that don't feel cheap and easy.
