DR STRANGE EPIC REVIEW

Very standard Marvel origin story. Not sure why some people seems to think it's one of the greats. It's everything you'd usually expect so people who love Marvel will love it and people who hate Marvel probably won't.

I'd say it's a top 5 in terms of Marvel films. The VFX for the reality bending were pretty awesome.

Then again I like Marvel, Benedict Cucumber and fancy CGI so it had little that could go wrong with me.

tbh most of the Marvel movies are 6/10s anyway. Maybe Winter Soldier deserves a 7, as well as Avengers, but a 6 is a solid action flick rating.

Kind of stinks that it didn't turn out better. It's not that I was thinking it'd be some grand, phenomenal film that pushed the boundaries of film-making, but I was hoping it'd be a little more creative and unusual than it apparently turned out to be. I thought because Dr. Strange is so different from the rest of the Avengers introduced so far in the MCU, the film would be different in a formulaic sense, too, but I guess I got my hopes up.

I'd probably give Civil War, Iron Man, Winter Soldier, and Avengers at least 8s tbh but I love the MCU. But I agree basically everything else is just everything else is a 6 serviceable action movie. Even Thor TDW wasn't bad despite what some people on here would say.

Just saw it. 7/10 (above average for a Marvel movie). Definitely one of the most creative Marvel movies, and I really appreciate that it's not "decent guy learns how to punch bad guys" film, though it's very formulaic (which also isn't really bad, since the Marvel formula is tried and true).

Good:
-Excellent visuals
-Best supporting cast out of any Marvel movie
-It's interesting new material without feeling exposition-heavy
-Decent use of Mads Mikkelson
-There are only two or three henchmen, and no faceless bad guys to be slaughtered

Bad:
-Generic Marvel soundtrack
-Big villain (can't even remember its name) is completely wasted, and is basically Galactus 2.0
-Very fast-paced, skipping over a lot of the fun development that could have been seen in a movie about magic warrior-monks
-Rachel McAdams is completely wasted, like Natalie Portman in Thor

That's more of a Joss Whedon thing than a Marvel thing. I'm pretty sure ex-Russian assassin Black Widow isn't a quippy comedian in the comics.

I got bored of it after the first Avengers movie. I really liked Dr Strange though, even if it was still rather formulaic.
