What do you think of people keeping Foxes as pets?
Out all all wild animal breeds, Foxes would be one of the easier ones to domesticate. However one of the issues with the video I posted was how they went and domesticated them...
Locked them up in cages until they're shipped off in another cage? No, nonono. If we are going to have domesticated animals like Foxes you absolutely CANNOT raise the animals in captivity. That already promotes bad behavior. God damn it Russia.

So, what are your thoughts on domesticated Foxes? Would you want one? Would you want the ways to domesticate them to change?

Five years ago, I would've said that was awesome. The Internet ruined foxes for me, tbh.

Doesn't change the fact that they are good animals, and probably good pets if trained PROPERLY.

Its not a good thing, if you think it is then just lol, they're wild animals.

So were dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and many more at some point. To say they were our best buddies since the dawn of time is pretty dumb.

Dogs came to be through a long ass time of breeding desirable traits in behavior/appearance/ect. from wolves. I really don't see the problem with that.

However, people need to understand that training and domestication is different. A fox from the wild can be trained to behave, but they still have gene make up that goes against that, so the thing snapping one day is always plausible. If we really want to domesticate the species, it needs to handled by breeders who know how to breed desired traits.

Dogs were domesticated so easily because they naturally aligned to pack mentality and humans tended to fill out whatever the wolves lacked, like opposable thumbs and being sapient. Foxes aren't very social creatures in the first place iirc, and wolves were domesticated over hundreds of years anyway. If it happens successfully, it'll be a long time until that day arrives.

Foxes are good and sweet and crafty and bitey animals.
