I don't know how much of this is based on actual lore but it reeks of fan-fiction. Thought I would share.

Ehh. I'd say there are more plausible parts, like the whole "Ho-oh being jealous of Lugia's trio of birds, thus creating the trio of dogs" thing.

But then it pulls the Lati@s garbage out of its ass and you're left feeling bad for enjoying yourself.
