Spoiler
as for me, the area is fairly quiet, except it’s a long stretch of road going up/down hill.... theres a lot of ANNOYING cars going 1000 mph, especially at night. just another reason why i despise loud cars and hope engines phase out of existence

and ive lived here for 3 years and i still know next to know about my neighbors lol, i dont go out often

oh and we get a lotta squirrels & raccoons out back. i despise squirrels now, theyre not cute anymore theyre annoying & eat all the plants

Living in the armpit of California has it's benefits I guess.

The coast and beach I visit is an hour and half away and is always a nice getaway from the heat. The drive there and back is always a good time.

Los Angeles is about the same time, so is Six Flags Magic Mountain and Universal Studios. Disneyland is a little bit further away.

Being near the I-5 and the 99 allows me easy access to all of these places as well as to any other major city and location in California.

I live in a shithole, yes, but everything being around 2-3 hours away is a luxury.

Long live NoNolesNeckin.

Ya fuckin' ganderneck.
The town I live in is the most uneventful and least opportunistic place I've ever been to in my entire life. People are relatively friendly around here but there's is nothing going on. My neighborhood specifically is very quiet and dull. The only noise you get is when a train is passing by on the tracks about a mile away.

We knew the world would not be the same.
A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent.
I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita.
Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty
and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says,
"Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.."
I suppose we all thought that one way or another.
20 minutes from the ocean, really friendly neighbors. Right by the freeway but still a mostly quiet community besides these two motorcycle dickwads whose engines always set off people's car alarms, and gardners who make bigger messes than what they're supposed to be cleaning up. It's also laughably overpriced and the landlords don't give a flying fuck, everything's done as cheaply as possible and maintenance requests take like 2-3 months to actually happen.

But besides that? Yeah I like it here. I'd like it more if the cost of living especially relative to the value was more reasonable, but that's not how shit works these days.

I live in rural Ohio with a decent bit of land so I'm almost never bothered by other people. This is basically the polar opposite of the last place I lived, which was next to a bar in Akron, OH. There's a lot less to do but this is offset by the fact that there are far fewer people trespassing/breaking in. I'd personally love to move back around that area but I'd be staying outside of the city.

objectively speaking, i live in a miserable frozen wasteland filled with old people, trump supporters, meth heads, and ne'er-do-wells (like me) and no one in their right mind would consider it to be a good place to live

but having lived here for about a quarter of a century at this point, i'm fairly used to it, and it hasn't gotten so bad that i ever thought to myself "holy shit, i gotta get out of here"

no matter where i'd go, i'd stay in my home anyway, so it doesn't really make a difference

If you go to the LA beaches then yeah I understand lol

I go to one up the 101 about 2 hours away from LA where there's hardly any people that go. It's so peaceful there.

It's fine
It's a small town where nothing really happens
Everywhere is a 45 minute drive which I don't really mind but it's not really ideal for my mom

Ideally I'd want to live in the middle of nowhere with all the convenience of city life so I don't think I'd ever find anywhere perfect but I'd rather be in the city than rural areas

No, and it's even worse after enumerating my building for the census. A bunch of fucking decrepit old snoody senile assholes.
The entire fucking city of Chicago is covered in one large unending Spider web with flies and mosquito EVERYWHERE.
The building pipes are permanently clogged with dead rats.
Everything closes at 9 and the sores are never stocked.
Bodegas don't exist here.
The busses are never on time.
No Manhattan.
No Downtown Brooklyn.
The rate of homeless is absolutely unbelievable.
The Art Galleries have made give up.
And literally everyone here is a fucking weeaboo or a furry.

The bright sides?
Internet speeds fit for human use
No Staten Island

I miss Brooklyn.

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
The two towns next to me have more bars than traffic lights. There's an italian restaurant every  three miles. If I drive twenty minutes one way I'm surrounded by all the urbanite degeneracy I could ever want for fifty dollars, twenty minutes the other way and the woods are so thick they'll never find that hooker's body. Now there may be plenty of places in America like that, but I've yet to find many away from here with grocery stores that stock any fuckin lebanon bologna  or half-decent meat snacks.

It's that and the Yuengling that's gonna keep me here forever.

"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.
outside is scary, there's a big fiery ball in the sky and I don't know when it's going to decide to chase me

If you know, you know.
Moved back to my parents. After my landlord started pulling shit like: (Long story ahead)
Spoiler

Yeah he is making it sound like a suggestion or an option - but in reality its an ultimatum. Either GTFO on Mondays and Tuesdays or find another place to rent.

Apparently me sitting in my room (always with headphones on) at the opposite end of the apartment and only coming out to get food is a burden that prevents him from functioning. His suggestion was for me to drive down to my parents (who live 40km away).

A yeah mate, let me drive 160km two days of the week while paying rent so you can have the house to yourself for a few hours?

Also worth noting that none of the big software companies issued 'return-to-office' and have not to this date!
I spoke about this with him in person and it seemed like this was a totally normal request from his perspective. He also had a problem when I described it as "I need to get out for a few hours."; Such phrasing was not welcomed by him. (Bruh, no matter how you put it, that's what you are asking me to do)
I ended up asking him for a rent discount when I told him that I would need about twenty euro for there-and-back trip, he gave me a fifty euro discount for the month's rent. (quick math: assuming four sets of M+T, we get 160 euro for a month, he is 110 euro short there) gg. I asked my mom if they had any room for me and in a few days I was out of there.
He ended up taking two thirds of my deposit as well. For paint that he used after mold appeared in winter and a cleaner that came in (a month after I moved out so how the hell does a cleaner service benefit me?); The room was spotless after I moved out.
I wouldn't be as mad, but its the hypocrisy made me fume. His issue with me being there was a matter of convenience, yes?

He would constantly wake up in early hours of the morning (4am, 5am, 6am) and take showers - (his shower was right behind the wall where my bed was), slam doors, when my alarm clock is set for 8am.
Leaving dishes in the sink for WEEKS. Using the washing machine constantly and always leaving his stuff in there.

He would throw in his towel in there and not wash it for an entire week. Basically using the machine as his personal laundry bin. This was not a one-off thing either, this was consistent for the two years that I lived there.
He told me to always lock the door after I leave, but he would constantly leave it open, I'm not joking - the dude never locks the front door at night.

Constantly leaving lights on everywhere. He would turn the light on in the kitchen and then leave to walk his dog. WTF is the point of having the light on in the kitchen?! If I had rice or w/e on the stove, he would turn the light on in the kitchen even if I had it off. Like food doesn't get cooked while in the dark...

When I first moved in, I made the mistake of leaving my detergent and softener under the kitchen sink. Since he uses the washing machine at least once a day, a week later I had to wash my clothes with the few drops that he left for me and he cheekily diluted it with water to make it look like there was more in there. Like I wouldn't notice that the viscous purple gel now flows like water. The softener was half gone. Prick. It takes me about three or four months to go through an entire bottle. From then on, I stored everything in my room. Even my kitchen towel - which he would wash after one or two uses! Same with trash bags.

I once lined the garbage bin with a bag. Threw out a few things. I come back a day later and the thing is full of his trash. FULL. And he left it like that for me to throw out. After that, I got my own bin and kept it in my room.

Can't wait to move into my own house after that.

They live in a small town in the middle of nowhere. Not much to do here but it has grocery shops. Having a car means I can get to bigger cities within forty minutes. My box room is cozy and my parents have three cats (one of which is actually mine that I had to give to my mom after I had to move). Not bad.

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.
Yeah sure, I enjoy it. How loud it is depends on the time of day, but that's just living on an urban/commuter route. Don't really know my neighbors, haven't talked to anyone in the building since March; that being said they've never really annoyed or bothered me, so I don't mind them at the least.

If I'm not here, I'm doing photography. Or I'm asleep. Or in lockdown. One of those three, anyway.

The current titlebar/avatar setup is just normal.
Edinburgh is a nice change from Cardiff, but since I moved during lockdown I haven't really had a proper chance to experience it as I normally would.

I have a nice flat and there's shops nearby at least.

I used to hate where I live (Camden) but I've grown to like it. I plan on moving to the town next to it in a few years. It's nicer though I'm probably gonna have a racist neighbor.

Living in Walmart™ central has its benefits, but I can't say I particularly enjoy it. Been saving a long time for a travel home and whatever upgrades I might need to make for extended/comfortable living, and I'm pretty much at the apex for it all. Just kinda scared about uprooting myself even though this is what I've always wanted.

Could be worse, could be better.  A lot of rude unemployed people inhabit this town,  while there are a lot of good honest people who know each other. It's good to be known here, but there is a big welfare problem here.
