Depression

Anybody suffer from it?

I don't know if I actually have it but I almost half of my week ends up feeling like it. Mostly deprives from boredom, to which I just stare outside or the ceiling for a while, but it also comes from this feeling of loneliness and a void I just can't fill. Plus I only have a very, very few number a friends which doesn't make it better. So yeah

I know everybody feels like that at some points but I feel it happens to me more than everybody else. This is like the 3rd day in a row feeling like this

Indeed I am. Currently, I am attempting to avoid any sort of medication and find alternative routes to suppress my mood, hence the art and whatnot.

Not going to help really. I already take medication for social anxiety and the medication is also prescribed as an ant-depressent to those who have it. I actually feel worse whenever I don't take it. Not like I plan on suicide. I want to live and feel more freedom would help solve my issue

It gets really fucking old really fast. Unfortunately I do not have health insurance, so I am unable to get prescribed medication for it at the moment. I should be able to get health insurance in November though, when my mother's insurance at her work allows them to change stuff.

Different anti-depressants target different things, if you're prescribed an anti-depressant for social-anxiety then you're taking medication to target you anxiety specifically.

I have something more akin to permanent depression. I've never felt joy or happiness in my entire life. Boredom and frustration leads to fucking around, which has now become a hobby. It's really painful and disheartening, but I'm not here to write a sob-story.

Work out and do what makes you happy, OP. You cannot get rid of depression easily, you have to slowly chip it away. Eat healthy, train and be happy. Anti-depressants can fuck you up, so I recommend trying to cope without them. Only take Anti-depressants if all else fails.

i've been diagnosed for a bit now. having prozac prescribed to me has honestly made a big difference. i'm generally less irritable while i'm on it (in tandem with not being as mopey, of course) which is a great sign it's working. life has mellowed out now.

Feeling depressed for a few days doesn't necessarily indicate depression, it's more likely due to circumstances or events and with a bit of luck it will pass fairly soon.

If it remains for two weeks+ and shows no signs of getting better then you should go and see your Doctor about it. It's unlikely that it's the onset of clinical depression but a healthy bit of caution doesn't go amiss. Especially if it turns out to be the case, then you can nip it in the bud so to speak.

You mentioned an Anti-Anxiety medication that you are on, do you know what sort it is? If you'd rather PM that or just not say then that's fine, but one of the side effects with anti-depressants/anxiety drugs in people in or under the ages of 18-25 can be a strange reversal effect which increases the levels of suicidal ideation and the like, but that's not exactly common. Just something to keep in mind.

I've suffered from an odd sort of dysphoria, which is about as close to depression as I'll ever get over the course of my life.
