I see, I been doing a lot of stuff in last years, got job as a shopkeeper eventually, selling plumbing and electricity goods, also doing ads from time to time for that company or loading trucks or... well the list goes on. At home I if not tired study for a better job as a system administrator of linux systems. I also finally got myself modern enough phone to run discord on it, you can add me, I'm MarKhan#2341 there. dustin's been banned for years and years for reasons i don't remember, but he was an assclown

challenger and deci just wanted to leave the site, but i'm in challenger's discord, and he's doing okay

I’ve become a moderator elsewhere on the internet recently so that’s pulled me away from the other forums I regularly visited. Now that Eva is finally done I feel another forum I used to be a regular at will get the same treatment this one gets from me eventually.

That and I’m just a workaholic; now that I’m back where I rightfully belong at work I can get back to continuing my agenda.

Cynical outlook. Honestly the personalities on Bnet and elsewhere were really important to me. And I don't think I'd be where I am today without this site

It's just a question of math and time, considering I've been through the disintigration of many smaller forums. It's an inevitability for smaller forums, unless a very rare event happens and the members end up meeting IRL.

You consider it a cycnical outlook only because it's not a nice thought to ponder that faces and people you knew in some sense are gone, and are going to be at some point.

Neither would I be in the same position I am now if not for the time spent here, and I think there's a few round here who could say that, better off or worse. But that doesn't negate that the heyday's probably over.

Typically people grow up and move on.

I just forget my password to this place every other time I try and visit and don’t care enough to change it. Times passed, forums are dead and the ones that aren’t typically are filled with people who don’t do much other than stay at home and online.

I think the growth of discord played a big role in the decline of forum activity tbh, for such a small community sometimes it's just easier to use a chatroom.

yeah forums are really good for keeping documentation about a hobby or something where people search up an issue on google and then bam they’re on your niche mongolian basket weaving website but otherwise chatrooms are better with small user bases

Yea, but that's partially because of lack of topics you would be intererested in. And lack of topics comes from lack of activity so it loops back to 'forum is ded' issue

But guys, I wouldn't call any of our Discords active places either, (I don't count spam of autism as an activity) so the issue is not in platform. There are no common activities at the very least in most of those, exception I saw was Jono discord which I would call active enough.

Lack of common topics, activities, goals is the issue. And you could say that everyone is busy with life, and that's probably true, but still there are people that stayed here, that visit this forum quite often, but they don't have much things to discuss between each other.

Which is a shame because chatrooms don't replace forums at all in my opinion, they offer a different service.

As someone from a different timezone to the US, I hate logging in only to see that all the conversation was happening while I was asleep.
