Veganism is pointless, anyway. Yeah, there is something good in the idea, but it's impossible to make billions of humans change and make any lasting impact. That's why I stopped. Why should I try when nobody else is going to bother? Also I loathe people that use it as some kind of moral high ground in an attempt to feel superior to others.

Not to mention it actually ends up being HARMFUL to the environment because of our toxic agriculture today.

Yes the term in generally used in a practice of sorts, grammatically, scientifically, mathematically
Are you saying biology isn't a practice?

Are you seriously this du--Well, yes, you are, but sometimes I just find it really hard to believe. It's people like you that make me ponder whether I'm really living in some kind of deranged simulation or not, because GODDAMN, you just can't be fucking real.
See you're seeing your own definition and not what someone else is taking it as in context, sure if you didn't know where the brain is, you'd be biologically illiterate

But if someone didn't have a brain at all, they wouldn't be biologically illiterate, they would be something else entirely, or you.

Yeah, when has a large group of people EVER made a change for the better in society?

You only loathe it because we DO have the moral high ground.

We ARE superior to you. And that makes you feel all bad and guilty inside.

Actually all that meat makes us feel warm and fuzzy, oh and healthy, and not anaemic.

There's those positive health benefits too. But hey gotta humour the human rabbit every once in a while.

A movement for rights of a race has nothing to do with how veganism works. How is it possible a) have sustainable farming that doesn't destroy our world and turn it into desert and b) to convert billions to vegan asap to save this planet?

We are FUCKED. Completely fucked. The damage we have done is irreversible, and there will be no world for future generations to live in.

Not that veganism is unhealthy. It's actually 30,000x healthier than a meat-based diet, but you know, continue living in your cozy shell where you don't have to worry about ethical quandaries, because your fragile mind would shatter if you actually sat down to think about what you're doing.

Sure we have more vegans and more demand of vegetables, meaning higher demand in crops which undoubtedly take up much more space then cattle and the latter.

>bulldoze forests to clear for crops

>Vegan world suffocates from lack of oxygen, vegans would kill the world.

Well you tried, but you haven't convinced me familio

It wouldn't, though, and you're just fucking crazy and desperate.

He's a person with a following that cares a lot about nature, saving the planet and hates how greedy, selfish and destructive humans are.

How would you deal with the mass clearing though? Don't deny the amount of room you'd need to grow maize to feed a world as a primary food choice.

Batch is on the right track. Billions of people relying solely on vegetable products with current tech would destroy Earth quicker than it's being destroyed right now.

Earth has too many mouths to feed. And we're ignoring the elephant in the room -- population control.

just hopping in to point out that if the animal industry was abolished overnight there would be no need for an increase in vegan diet options, as the food they used to feed those confined animals would be more than enough to cover the difference in human food amounts.

That's not gonna solve our problems. The farming is diabolical for nature, it destroys forests, ecosystems and animals would still suffer plenty at our hands -- there's a mass extinction event occurring at this moment and animals that aren't even used in the industry are going extinct. The farming we have right now is totally unsustainable, even if we can feed people for now, we won't be able to do it in the future.

Oh yeah, there's the problem of our ever increasing population too.

humanity's years left may be numbered but that doesn't mean we need to brutally harvest creatures on top of destroying our planet.

Most of those creatures that we brutally harvest are doped up on drugs, and would destroy ecosystems (on top of not being able to survive) if released into the wild.

i don't want to release them into the wild, either. just stop impregnating them.

and they're definitely not on any drugs considering dying animals are routinely denied pain-reducing drugs so that the meat can be harvested and sold

No one's saying to release them. The ones in the farms should probably be mercy killed.

If Batch wanted an easy way to win the vegetarian pet argument he should've mentioned a type of pet that actually is a carnivore, like a cat...

You see, even having a compromise like that, trying to ease the suffering of animals in the industry no matter if we are doomed anyway won't happen either, for very obvious reasons. All we can do is fantasize.

Just for the record, I am on your side. It saddens me to watch this beautiful world be destroyed -- I want to save Earth and have us all live a sustainable lifestyle. But it's just not possible, and we are screwed no matter what at this point.

There was a time where we could go back, but it's wayyy too late now.

i sort of see where you're coming from, but i'm far too stubborn to go back on my convictions now. even if i think we've got like 100 years left and then we're done.

plus being a vegan is fucking easy.

I actually agree.

Am I gonna drop everything and starting eating meat again because of that, though?
Am I gonna stop being an advocate?

Of course not.

Just out of curiosity, because I can't be assed to read the rest of the thread, how many vegans/vegetarians here would be fine with consuming meat in a non-industrialized society? That is, if meat products weren't mass produced, and we weren't wrecking the environment, would you eat a pork chop?

I would. In fact, that's what I want. Animals would be able to live normal, healthy lives in the wild. Everything will die and will be eaten by something else no matter what, whether it be bacteria, maggots or a lion. It's the circle of life, and the dead animal lives on in the animals that consumed it.

Wrong.

A border collie named Bramble lived to be 27 years old--longer than any dog in recorded history--and was fed a vegan diet from birth.

Get fucked.

Correlation =/= Causation

The exercise probably played more into the longevity of the dog's life than the diet
Also the owner was extremely protective of her dog and probably provided it more care than the average dog owner
