If You Are A False Don't Entry
Have you ever heard of cultural appropriation, that thing where you can't take parts of other people's cultures and use them as your own? So like, you can't take an indian head dress and wear it because it's a sacred part of their culture. I'm usually a pretty liberal person, but this cultural appropriation thing is fucking stupid. Fuck your culture. Why should someone else be able to govern what someone else wears, or what style of music they make, or the way they talk? I honestly tried to ask my friends what it was about this that actually makes sense, and they tried to explain it to me and I was just thinking, yeah I want to go wear and indian head dress and walk down the street of an indian reservation now, because this is so fucking stupid. I just said, yeah I feel like if I grew up in that culture I'd go and wear the fucking indian head dress (even though it's only meant for special members of the tribe or something), because nothing sacred, that's stupid.

it's just kind of an inherently racist idea, at least the way it's used

if a white guy wears a do-rag and sags his pants, he's accused of cultural appropriation, which implies that those things are part of black "culture" when they're really just stereotypes.

I agree, but you probably couldn't argue that with the head dress thing. I think it's racist to say that every culture should stick to their own culture. That's the opposite of multiculturalism.

Long live NoNolesNeckin.

Ya fuckin' ganderneck.
When there's a lack of significant real oppression, something else must be made up to fill the void for these people.

Cultural appropriation is totally a problem. All these fucking niggers need to stop speaking my English, using my people's technology, and benefiting from my ancestor's agricultural innovations.

Excuse me, I'm full of dog poison
The issue only really occurs when white people claim something from another culture as their own.

Other than that tho, I see no issue. You want your culture all to yourself then you can fuck off back to where you're from.

The Japanese are, hence why none of them seem to care about Anime exploding in the west, it helps their economy. Also despite the claims of racism, they don't seem to care that much about it in terms of tradition. If you were to go to seasonal festival or ceremony over there, you'd be looked down upon for not wearing a kimono/yukata regardless of race.

I would think most people would be delighted to see others emulate their culture.

Then you're adorably naive.

Some people may be delighted, but most would (and should) view it as an outright mockery. It's no different than Steve Buscemi walking up to a group of teenagers with a do-rag and a skateboard saying, "How do you do, fellow kids?"

When someone who is not part of your culture tries to emulate said culture, they're just embarrassing themselves. You have to be at least partially ingrained within the culture to not come off as either a clown or someone who is trying to be offensive.

Well, there's a difference between borrowing certain aspects of other cultures than to, for example, treat another culture like a costume that you can wear for entertainment without regard of the origin. The key word is "appropriation" (to seize/take over without permission).

Or, y'know, somebody who is genuinely interested in that culture and wants to see what it's like. It's pretty obvious when somebody is trying to mock a culture and when they're merely curious about it.

And only a moron would get their panties in a knot over that.

It's also pretty obvious that you don't have to be intentionally making a mockery of something to be making a mockery of something. There are cultural symbols that have meaning behind them--to appropriate something like that without grasping the meaning behind it would be a mockery, and you'd be a shithead for even attempting to be a part of it.

You're a cultureless swine so I can't blame you for being unable to empathize.

Is it really any different if an urbanized, upper-class black person who drinks lattes all day wears an african tribal headdress? He's just as secluded from that culture as the white guy who works in the office next to him, and it's just as mocking.

Just because his great great great great great grandfather's great grandfather was part of that culture doesn't give him any justification to appropriate it. And no one complains with something like Hamilton, where black people "appropriate" the culture of whites.

All this concept really does is divide us more and create more issues.

Caring about historical accuracy this much is pretty fucking dumb--especially when it's not TRYING to be historically accurate.

We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent. I remembered the line from the shitlord scripture the Bhagavad Reeeeeeeta; Kek is trying to persuade the prince that he should save his people, and to impress him takes on his frog-headed form, and says, "Now I am become meme, the destroyer of cucks." I suppose we all thought that, one way or another.

it's not

LMM has openly admitted that telling a good narrative was his goal with the musical, and that he took many liberties to make that happen, and have the Burr/Hamilton relationship be as gripping as possible

Ian is just being pedantic and autistic, as usual

he thinks every historical adaptation is shit unless it's completely accurate

like dude go watch a documentary

I love being a nigger, we play pass the white bitch every day.
You do realize that miscegenation rates are actually pretty low everywhere on earth, and the real problem is high birthrates amongst yourselves? Hell, as flee pointed out, you don't even commit that much violent crime let alone rape, but you are a net economic drain and that's only increasing as your population does.
