Not really, Bungie removed the inherent culture that made The Flood exist in the first place. Without that, and the change of views, and also pushing that community away was a clear way of saying "Get out of here, you have done your part" whether it all was voluntary, or not.

The new culture of Bungie is around a mutation of a different set of people that just are not like us. They are just different, that's why we recognize the name of The Flood much better than those who recognize Bungie.net's offtopic and check the threads to have a chuckle or two.

The reason we are here it's not because of the name, but it's because we just liked to hang out in The Flood, have some chats, troll someone, or whatever everyone was doing there in the first place. We haven't stopped existing as a loose community during Bungie's introduction of Destiny simply because the inherent culture from Bungie is still there.

Nowadays we might take some spins like the Serious board, or some habits and ideas are borrowed from different communities, but we are a diverse group from say, the people who exclusively are to be found on 4chan, imgur, reddit or 9gag. That kind of difference gives a reason for it to exist.

And since Destiny was introduced that difference that we had was not there anymore, nor its replacement was part of the forum culture that was on Bungie.net before Destiny. Some people here play Destiny, and that's normal, it's a nice action game when you ignore all its faults (for some people it's easy, for some it's a huge issue) but at the same time we have people playing lots of different games, even some who found this community from outside Bungie.

Our selling point, and I think our only raison d'être is that we are the remnants of what was Bungie's culture up to the launch of Destiny. Before it all changed, before some got into fights with DeeJ, before some figures like Marty o Donnel left Bungie, before it became the developer we could no longer familiarize with.

And whether this loose community can welcome new people, or keep things interesting, I do genuinely think that its end will be inevitable. What kept us together was Bungie, and now it's just each other trying to recreate what is not there anymore.
