Mario, after conquering the Mushroom Kingdom, became power mad. He is, after all, Italian. He has Caesar's blood in his veins. In his power madness he crushed all who opposed him in the Mushroom Kingdom. After years of oppression, Toad and Yoshi overthrew him and exiled him to the Street Fighter world.

Once there he ate a mushroom that gave him magical martial arts abilities. M Bison was born. He formed the Shadaloo and set out conquering that world.
