I'd say that retreating into a completely reclusive and asocial state as a reaction to a massive change in a living situation that was entirely beyond my control was a pretty stupid action and I'd change it in a heartbeat.

I did the same with my crush for 4 years until we changed schools, and we interacted sometimes, so she thought that I disliked her, or something. I ofc didn't ignore her, I just gave her short comments etc

Would've moved abroad with my parents when I was 16 instead of living alone for 3 years. I think those 3 years of being quite solitary are what fucked me over and made me the cold unhappy person I am today.
