Can someone explain this logic?

Okay, so where I live it's mandatory to wear a seat belt, but if you're a motorcyclist then it's optional to wear a helmet. If anything I think wearing a helmet is more important since they don't have any other protection. Maybe someone can explain this to me.

seat belt laws are probably there to protect kids, the risk of getting fined ensures parents put their child's seat belts on whereas not wearing helmet only puts yourself at a greater risk. shocking right? parents strapping seat belts so they don't pay money not simply on the basis of their child's safety

That depends of the province doesn't it? I think it's leagal in Newfoundland and New Brunswick.

Here, it's legal to not wear a seat belt if you're older than 16 and sitting in the back seat.

Reminds me, I think it's hilarious how people want to force bikers to wear helmets but have no issue when I roll on by wearing shorts and a tee-shirt on the bike when I ride to work in the middle of summer.

Not that I don't voluntarily wear a helmet, mind you. I've lost a windshield to a walnut falling out of a tree. I'd hate to have seen what that could do to my head.
