Creature guessing game! At first glance, said critter appears vaugely saurian. Dinosaur-ish. But the positions, are buggered.

But, take a look at the finer details. Aquatic saurian. Webbed feet. Angles achieveable in water. Aquatic saurian based critter, eating, well, leftover aquatic critter.

That, or, injured aquatic saurian based critter, attempting to keep insides, inside.

I've been around. Not dead yet! So very much alive for the time being. Just haven't bumped into me is all.

Well, compared to you folks, I'm not particularily special. But, today, today is an achievement. Because today, I understand how I operate!

It took me two months of self study and absolutely no drawing, but I fucking did it. I know exactly how I operate. And so, piece by piece, bit by bit, I ripped something out of my head. So, I present to you, in rough sketch form, Izz. A cyborg from one of mein stories.

Now comes the really fun bit. Colour, and the final details.

This book is fucking amazing. If you're ever serious about learning anatomy and figure drawing then look into it.

That's a little bit of an issue with me. I don't follow conventional rules. In fact I can't. I cannot look at a lesson, and replicate it. I have to study it, with my eyes, pick out what speaks to me, replay it in my head, envision myself doing it, and then jump.

Lessons and such don't stick into my head. I've got to take apart shit and do it myself. That's how I learn. Which, frankly, can be a hindrance. Because I don't pick up on shit unless I've experienced it. But, none the less, it's an adventure. And it's solely my own. Self discovery is best discovery.

I've learned this way with just about everything so far when it comes to my art, but I can't do it with anatomy. I just can't. Everything I sketch has issues that bug the living hell out of me and it all looks too stiff and forced(?) idk.

I'm giving this a shot and from what I've seen so far, the basis of this book isn't about strict lessons and a very structured process. In fact the first thing the author states is that the book isn't meant to be followed strictly and that adding your own take on certain things or rearranging chapters to your liking is encouraged etc.

There is also the fact that I'm not sure where my style is headed yet. But, I'm getting there. Little mix of realism, little mix of exaggeration.

Oh of course, but the basics have to come before anything else if you want to progress. Learning graff taught that to me better than anything.

To give you an impression of how learning impaired-ish I am, I failed my swimming lessons as a kid. Utterly failed. I failed my driving lessons multiple times in high school.

But, when I stood back, and watched, gave it some thought, and then acted alone, I did it in one shot.

Point is, this isn't a stubbornness I can just ditch. I just gotta do stuff myself. Hell, I learned everything I know about my writing over a period of three years by self examination alone.

But it's fun. I'll get the hang of it, you'll see. Just gotta give my gears time to turn and they'll line up properly one day.
