I am struggling so hard with figuring out how to start learning to color/paint digitally. I've really gotta look for some resources to learn from. At least I've gotten pretty comfortable with sketching.

And a little style experiment. Pretty meh but I do really like the A.

I hesitate to start learning to color because I don't have any real foundation to begin from. Any coloring I do is entirely experimental and not based on any real resource. The styles of coloring I would like to achieve are at the other end of a long road for me and I have a real problem with starting to learn anything I'm not good at.

Yeah I've found a fair amount of references like that one and saved them, as well as some good youtube tuts. I just wish resources like that were more engaging I guess.

I'd really like to take a course in digital painting if I could. It's not feasible for me to go back to school currently but I've been thinking about trying out SkillShare at some point and seeing if there's some good digital art courses on there.

Fixed it. I'm still not entirely happy with the bangs, but it's within an acceptable margin of error (mostly because I don't want to fuck it up anymore than it is and it's 1 AM.)

This is the amalgamation of 3 hours of pure shading practice. I tried channeling Cell Saga facial structure (longer, more narrow jaw line) but added the Yamamuro (or I guess Takahashi perfected it) shading technique from the Buu Saga with the added layer of darker shading for the cheekbones (this was primarily used on SSJ3 but it works well with any character model). The body position still needs work and I had to use a reference for certain muscles, but other than that it's all original. Quite honestly I'd say this is my best work so far.
