An old man mistook me for a woman today

Considering we grew up in an era being told that you're supposed to lie about everything on the internet and not reveal any real personal information, coming clean in the new era of zero anonymity is kind of to be expected.

Its a transition between the old way and the new way that we all have to make.

I still regret some of the lies I made on b.net to preserve my personal identity to people who I considered my friends.

But that's what we were taught by people who could never have expected just how real the human interaction people share online really could be.

Or is it because it's barely possible for someone of your age to move out and live independently with the sort of money you can earn?

As sol has already said above, these are values that were taught to this generation by a generation that lived in very different times. Don't hate yourself over something that is out of your control, just work towards the day where it is possible.

I'll also chime in: Don't ever get a pet. Just did groceries today, $100, 18 of which went to fucking catfood and litter. Pets are expensive.

I still remember the anxiety on my grandparents faces when I was talking about friends that lived in another country.

I'm not too sure why, but I guess the degree of separation between two people talking online actually allows for a lot more honesty (with yourself, and with them). There are things that I can quite comfortably talk about online with friends, that would just sit unsaid and hidden with my friends in person.

Even the terminology doesn't sit right, I hate the term/distinction of 'internet friends' and 'IRL friends' because to me it just sounds like the friendship with people online is hollow.

It'll be interesting to see how Gen Z turns out having grown up with smartphones in their hands.

I think part of the problem is I ended up with a second cat I had no intention of taking care of and I'm now stuck with him because taking him to a shelter when he already has a home here is a huge dick move against the thing.

Happens to me a lot at dinner. One woman came up to me once while I was shopping with my mom, and she like "Miss, can you help me?" and then got an attitude after my mom corrected her.

It used to happen to me all the time.

Not so much anymore.

Probably because I don't shave as much as I should, and usually have 5 o'clock shadow.

I'll be 26 in 20 days and I live with my family still. I know plenty of other's that still do as well. My old weed man was about 30 still living with his mom, was cheaper that way.
