i keep like 15-20 friends on my xbox friends list whom i added back in halo 3 custom games/cod4/gow2 horde and haven't been online in over three years

for sentimental value, for memories of simpler times

Goodness gracious, great balls of lightning!
I took those people off my friend's list a long time ago.

The sad thing was I really enjoyed playing Halo with this one guy. We always talked about the lore and all that stuff and then one day he just stopped getting online. Its like he just vanished without warning.

you see these people have been offline for so long that it simply says "offline" on their profile instead of saying "last online x days ago"

but what's weird is while most of these inactive friends' accounts are silver, there are some that are still gold

I guess I'm in the same boat then, I had an Xbox Live friend who died a couple of years ago, but I still keep him on my friends list regardless due to all the good times we had playing online over the years.

I only remove the ones I barely remember.  Several times now, I've gotten in touch with someone I haven't played with since like 2008, and found them on tons of PC games I play.  I even found out I was in the same college and course as some guy I used to hang out with on Halo 3.
