Advice for a novice machinima maker?

So for the past year and a half I have been writing not only a story but this whole universe thing I'm working on. I'm going to be using the Source SDK to make it. I've got no experience with this stuff so I'm going to be learning the hard way. So does anyone have any tips on how to use it? I'm currently re-downloading all my Source games so I can have heaps of assets to use.

Also does anyone know of any good Music producing software? that'd be good.

You'll probably want FL studio.

If you are using OS X to work with audio editing then I'd suggest GarageBand. If you are on Windows... No clue. Since you are learning the hard way, then keep in mind that you should watch some great machinima, and understand what went into them, and what elements make them great before proceeding making your own.

Yea I'm a big fan of Ross Scott's stuff like Civil Protection and all that stuff and I thought it be fun to do my own thing.

GarageBand if you have an iOS device or OS X.

FL Studio if you have Windows.

Only use Movie maker, and make sure to only use the approved blue backgrounds with white text for credits, intermissions, anything. The following music is appropriate, no matter the scene:
Crawling in my skin- Linkin Park
Let the Bodies hit the Floor
Sound System 009
Bleed it out
Dubstep
Heavy Metal
Breath into me
Great divide- Linkin Park
