For the sciencey people of Sep7. Let's say I have a kettle that's plated with the strongest steel you can buy. It also has the ability to seal completely shut so that nothing can enter or leave. If I filled that kettle up with water and boiled it, what would happen? Where would the water vapor go?

depending on how strong the kettle is, how hot you heat it, how much water is in it, etc., the kettle might fail or it might not.

There might be a possibility of explosion. Heat and sealed containers is a bad thing.

There might also be escape through heavy condensation, but don't quote me on that.

And, as SC said, the kettle might just fail. Like an improper woodstove. The passage of air is required for a woodstove to function properly, and if the setup isn't right, then the woodstove, doesn't function properly, if, not at all.

The water would boil, causing the vapor go within the restricted area. Due to the overly huge amount of vapor, though, the kettle will explode into pieces, causing a large explosion that might be witnessed from space. The Russians mixed some plutonium in the same idea of a kettle, and called it Tsar Bomba.

With a higher temperature I would be led to believe more water would evaporate thus increasing the pressure even more. It really depends on the amount of water and the volume of the kettle. A bit of it is going to stay liquid. And because of this science, pressure cookers make pretty good home made bombs.

i don't think that any water would condense on the outside of the kettle. even if it did for some reason, it would just evaotoate away immediately.

Condensation doesn't happen fast enough, or vast enough to have much effect on lowering the temperature of a kettle that is constantly being heated. There will be water vapor creating pressure on the inside. Even though on the outside it may not look like much, there's a shitload of science going down inside. And if the kettle isn't up to the task it would explode, but if it could hold the pressure it would sit there with water vapor, and un-evaporated water.
