SPOILERS MATIES

Holy fuck that last segment was trippy

To think that this movie came out before the first moon landing and before people began to have today's common knowledge of space
Absolutely mind blowing
Not to mention the fact that this was a perfection in terms of filmmaking
No cliches and shit
Straight to the point
The attention to detail was amazing
Stanley really knew his shit
The practical effects are still better than most today

I was a bit bored at the beginning when he dragged out the space sequences but I understand now that it was all perspective
No one had seen or done such a thing before and it must've been amazing to watch it back then
Just like how Gravity is visually amazing today, it must've been that way for 2OO1 back then

Anyways
Now to discuss the real meat
The ending

HOLY FUCK
That was trippy

I read somewhere that it was suppose to be that the aliens who sent the monoliths were the peacekeepers of the universe or something
They placed the monolith on the moon as a beacon to alert them when humanity was advanced enough and might cause trouble
The monolith on Jupiter was meant to transport Dave to their world where they observed him for the rest of his life and then sent him back to Earth as a god to see what he would do with his power

But anyone think that the room was in the fourth dimension?
In the fourth dimension you gain access to the axis of time as well as the length, height, and depth dimensions of the third dimensions
This could be why Dave was seeing himself in the various stages of his life

Also, could it be possible that the beings were in the fifth dimension?
In the fifth dimension, you gain access to 'alternate worlds' which could be how they had the power to do all that shit

I don't know
But it was awesome

What do you guys think?

the one true God is Doctor Doom and we should all be worshiping him.
I think half the movie was the result of the crew leaving the camera running.

You will find out who you are not a thousand times, before you ever discover who you are. I hope you find peace in yourself and learn to love instead of hate.

If I'm not here, I'm doing photography. Or I'm asleep. Or in lockdown. One of those three, anyway.

The current titlebar/avatar setup is just normal.
I watched it recently, and just didn't get it.

It may have been great at the time of it's release (I quite liked the trippy bit, though no idea what is going on there), but it was an almost painfully slow film to watch, and then once he reached Jupiter...well I have no fucking clue where the story went, seemed like an acid bender or something.

It helps to have a background in science and read the book

It has exposition but it doesn't flat out tell you

And plus Gravity was pretty much all establishing shots and panning shots and we were interested because it was beautiful

Same thing with 2OO1
Remember that we haven't even been to the moon yet and people knew nothing about space so this blew their minds

But yeah
It can get dragged out at times

But still
Genius

All of it

But mainly the ending where he goes through the shit

I think he was going through time as well
