Unless you're insecure about it I don't see the reason to, especially since you'd probably go to jail and potentially lose your job and strain your relationship. Now harassment or bullying, that would result in a response but not public.

It's not at all a strawman, It's Socratic reasoning. The point stands that if you claim violence is never an appropriate response to an act of speech, then you need to be able to defend it.

Freedom of speech is the right to express yourself without fear of government reproach. It has absolutely nothing to do with immunity from the consequences of other peoples' offense.
