It's fruitless while there's nothing to unite us. If there a greater threat, then yes. But it's pretty much impossible without a common goal.

In my opinion, and personal view of World Peace. I would never want it.

The conflicts aren't ending tommorow. Sure they'll end at some point, but another conflict will come, then another and another.

While we're in the most peaceful history in human history, with no major nations fighting each other directly (this has not happened since the Pax Romana during the Roman Empire days, which is saying a LOT), I do not think we will ever have world peace.

We will always have the tribal instinct in us, and humans will never want to be united under a single, global banner. I bring that up because I believe that would be the only way world peace could ever happen. Otherwise you'll have nation states competing with one another.

Still, we shouldn't be so focused on something as fantasy esc as "World Peace", and focus on improving what we already have. WW2's post events gave us the oddest gift in that we've created a weapon so powerful, everyone is afraid to fight one another.
