Why do many white americans ignore institutional racism?

I've noticed that both online and in real surveys that many white americans ignore the institutional racism. This is displayed in events like Katrina, and more recently the riots in Baltimore over consistent police brutality against african americans. The government tends to react differently when minorities are involved and this seems to hold true in all moments in american history.

Maybe police react differently to African-Americans on account of the higher chance they could be knifed, shot or beaten up should other African-Americans get involved?

This kind of makes me irritated because I'm white, and half the time it's the blacks that scream racist things at me and my friends. For instance my friend flew into town last Thursday and she was sitting next to a black woman when she sat down the lady yelled "oh hell no! I have to sit next to TWO skinny white girls?!" And then continued to make racist comments the rest of the flight. Sure, there is still a lot of racial tension and our government (who headed by a black man) tend to ignore communities with majority black. You want to know why? The government is trying to segregate us and create a race war within our borders so they can have better control. I have nothing wrong with any other race. I have had many black, Asian, indian, etc. friends and I did not treat them any differently. The reason it may seem like the whites are ignoring it is because they're terrified of being called "racist" for caring. It's so dumb.

Those tribalistic tendancies we've been cramming ourselves with have fucked us up real bad TBH

all the steriotypes
all the fucked up brainwashing we've done to each other and ourselves since the founding of this nation and before then with imperialism, colonialism and then slavery.

Racism has essentaly been hardwired into our society and it's going to be verry hard to get rid of it without some real bad infringment of the bill or rights regarding our sosiety, and none of us want that.

I find this extremely hard to believe. Acting like this on a plane can get you thrown off.

She was a black lady no one is going to call her racist to her face because she would most likely flip out and go postal. Just saying.

I don't know. First we need to talk about the higher death of whites caused by law enforcement before we go on to talk about "police brutality" against African Americans.

The mayor and police chief, black.

There are plenty of examples of police brutality being influenced by 'institutional' racism. Why sit there and act like this one in particular was all on whitey?
