The West Virginia University freshman who was found unconscious and not breathing inside a fraternity house — leading to a suspension of all Greek activities on campus — has died, university officials said Friday afternoon. In March, 18-year-old Phi Sigma Kappa pledge Marquise Braham of Penn State University committed suicide after what his family claimed was repeated hazing. While not explicitly linking Braham's death to hazing, police opened a criminal investigation, and Penn State suspended the fraternity last month after sealing the results of its own investigation. Last December, 19-year-old Pi Delta Psi pledge Michael Deng of Baruch College in New York died from major head trauma in what police said was a homicide.

A fraternity is a brotherhood, a lifelong bond between people who have gone through the same initiation progress and who have learned what it means to live and maintain a Greek life. Anyone who doesn't understand this is someone who could never get into a frat, and it's incredibly stupid to judge fraternities based on isolated accidents.

It's more than that. Pledges aren't just pawns, they learn the ins and outs of Greek life, they participate in many functions, they give back to the university and local community, and they learn to socialize with absolutely everyone in the fraternity.
No one is buying friends. Lets be real here. 90% of Frat dudes were popular in highschool.
Why are fraternities still a thing?
