It's one of the best religions, but religions are bad.

All christians should turn athetist or muslim imo. Same thing with jews. I mean, what kind of rule is don't mix milk with meat? I get the sentiment, but it's inherently flawed on moral grounds. You shouldn't get to kill at all, but the creator of that religion thought that people wouldn't convert if they removed meat, or he/she wasn't smart enough to realize that eating meat can not be justified, no matter how you prepare the food.

I'm gonna ignore the fact that following a religion is a wuss way of living, and instead say that the quran just repeats itself over and over again but with different words. 80% of the message is you are nothing, so follow the greatest omnipotent god that is so great and amazing. It's also barbaric and full of stupid rules and rituals. Did you know that a devoted muslim thanks god for absolutely everything? Before going to bed you pray something, then when you wake up you say something else, when drinking you have to sit down, drink three chugs at a time and say something before, and then after. Before eating, and after. When walking into a room you enter with the right(?) foot. There are other things that most muslims ignore. I think the prayers are called sunnas, and they're basically short passages in the quran. Then there's also Ramadan. God I hate Ramadan, because it's a thing that gives the muslims right to brag about how their bodies are cleansed by not eating for 20 hours, then eating a shit ton of junk food and 2000+ calories within the span of 4 hours in the night. I get that most muslims are fatasses just like the general population, but if you're trying to bulk or just not in the mood to lose strength and stamina it'll fuck you over. Best thing you can do is light exercise during the eating time.

Oh, and let's not forget that you can pray and do good things, but some people will still say that you can do more and that it is good. How can you get into heaven even more? Once you've done enough there's no need to do more. Also, many muslims look at Muhammed and think that he is great, and that there's a personal bond to him and god, instead of thinking that's there's personal bond to all humans. They don't even understand their own religion. Many hit their wife and children, then take their child to the mosque and act all kind to their child, buy them chocolate, then beat them up a day later again.

Islam, as with many 'religions', has played a crucial role in the development of 'modern' society. I am using '...', as the definition of religion is not uniform, and because I have been taught that the term 'modern' and 'religion' are often proposed in opposite relations, which may not be entirely true. If you view all religion in its fundamental form, then you may be inclined to attribute devotion to a particular faith as being archaic or 'not modern'.

In their fundamental form, I think that all religions are pretty bad. Islam included. As Psy points out, I disagree with some of their beliefs and positions. However, Islam, similar to Roman Catholicism and many Orthodox churches, highlights the importance of community, which is less important in the Protestant religious structure as it has become more individualized. This is a position I support.

What religion has done/continues to do for the world is quite interesting. Its influence is so far reaching, that the notion of 'separation of church and state', to me, is silly, even in 'modern' developed countries. But yeah, I personally do not support any religion nor hold any religious affiliation, but I do believe it is still relevant today and has an important position in our 'modern' age.

It's disgusting and barbaric, mostly because it's inherently tied to the state and governance. Traditional Islam is abhorrently oppressive and my lifestyle would have me hanged in any Islamic majority nation. It's also incompatible with western democracy, American nationalism, and most specifically, the constitution of the United States, the closest thing to a religious document that I believe in.

Fuck Islam.

Relevant and important how?

As the foundation of many cultural identities, the building blocks to certain legal and political systems, arguably the foundation of morals (that is debatable, of course). Many religious institutions (in Europe) play a particular social role still in welfare, education, and even run certain institutions (adoption agencies, prisons, etc). Certain religions, religious institutions (whatever you choose to call them) also worked for certain rights and against 'oppressive' government regimes (depends on what one considers oppressive of course). Some examples off the top of my head would be labor rights, combating government centralization, supporting the idea of a 'right to property'.

Religion is historically significant and is more than just faith or belief. That is how, I believe, it still holds relevance and importance.

I dislike religion, but don't know enough about Islam's actual doctrine to argue whether or not it's actually worse than other ones.

It's slave theology and not worth anyone's time. Muslims who aren't terrorists are bad Muslims.
