What do you think of 'Squatter's Rights'?

I know that's UK related but with the USA I bet that each state has it's own law/code for dealing with this.

I'm pretty repelled by the idea that someone can break into a building and claim it as their own, but maybe that's just old fashioned thinking...

Somebody ALWAYS owns a piece of land/building. If it's abandon then it's most likely owned by some bank
