OPEC was created to control production and prices

As of recently, OPEC nations have been trying to undercut each other which has led to decrease in prices but maintaining of oil production. Oil produced from the U.S and other places also has caused stock to basically overflow and create even lower prices. Gas from the corner of my house is currently $1.99

The more/less demand, the higher/lower the price.

The more/less supply, the lower/higher the price.

OPEC nations have decided to not cut production at the moment, despite the price of gas.

It goes to local gas stations. But you can't sell oil if you're charging $2.99 per gallon and oil from OPEC countries are charging $1.99

I'm not well caught up on U.S. legislation, but I'm pretty sure there are some restrictions on how much/what can actually be exported--at least on natural gas.

It's part of the reason OPEC are really having to shoot themselves in the foot, because natural gas in America at the moment is depressing prices so much.

I'm sure it's exported to other countries, but under a restricted amount I would assume. Obviously a big bulk of American oil is staying in America because it's a major reason prices have declined
