Yeah Gawker have also lost millions in ad revenue due to lack of internet traffic as well. I think we've really backed these guys into a corner what with the pathetic attempt to DDOS 8chan and PC Gamer's apology and updated code of ethics. We've still got a long way to go, but we're definitely making progress.

Sure Gamer Gate is a dumb name, sure games aren't all that important, sure there are some conspiracy weirdos out there but Gawker is getting fucked and that is in itself glorious.

But in regards to the OP, I constantly forget which side is which. I understand it was originally to do with ethics in journalism regarding video games (and later got moulded into a sexist debate to dodge the bullet), so is this good news or what?

Even if this is good for video game journalism, I still think it has a long way to go. It's nearly been 2 years since DICE was found to be using incentives with popular reviewers to make BF4 seem better than the reality, and although they aren't strictly "journalists", reviewers have far too much influential power in the industry to be ignored too.

While that is true, there's a part to play for the reviewers. They should be in a staunch position against what is essentially bribery, rather than just lapping up the goodies and spouting bullshit about a game.

There's definitely been a turning of the tide.

You're seeing a lot more devs and big names coming out against the anti-crowd. Totalbiscuit, Kevin Levine, Mark Kern have all been laying waste on twitter. The sjws have been becoming more and more erratic and unprofessional with their responses. Their targeting of neutrals definitely didn't help in any way.

When you hold up con-artists and hacks as your champions, attempt tell devs and artists what they are allowed to make, and classify any dissenting opinions as sexism you tend not to win over many friends.
