It's still the first day. We really need to wait until we have a new prime minister and negotiations begin before we start trying to judge how fucked or not fucked we are.

It's also not unlikely that both Belgium and Spain would veto Scottish entrance to the European Union, given their own troubles with secessionist movements. The Kingdom may yet survive . It's too early to call.

I can see why Scotland would leave, again what with the Remain camp winning by a landslide. Why go down on a sinking ship when you didn't want to be on the feckin' boat in the first place.What I can't believe is Wales was a majority Leave area... it arguably benefited the most from the Union. It's not like Cardiff didn't get it's regeneration scheme funded by the EU, it didn't receive farm and various other subsidies, and now, Wales doesn't even have a fucking industry anymore... apart from tourism, but I can't see how leaving the EU has given it an advantage.

I await to see how Ireland responds to this. Maintain the Good Friday agreement for travel between the two, or join the Schengen and have Britain build some border controls.

All I'm sure of at the moment is I'm happy I chose to have an Irish passport instead of a UK one.

No, but I'm pinning the chances of the referendum being rejected around about nil. Every single politician involved in campaigning who has spoken out, including Cameron, has explicitly said the will of the people must be respected. The Tories, at least, will probably be whipped into supporting it.

Rejection would be political suicide, especially for the Tory party.

The European Union peaked back in 2004. It is done – stick a fork in it. The arrogance of Brussels and their anti-democratic approach to force their elitist views upon the people is coming back to haunt them. Unless Brussels reforms (which I completely doubt will happen), we will see the collapse of the entire EU structure right down to the Euro. The pound will bounce back even stronger than it was.

I actually looked that up last night, whilst there isn't any rush for the present I might actually get one sorted out in the future (Provided the EU doesn't house of cards it in the next few years).

Depends on how Britain does outside of the EU, since many of the young voters have only grown up during the membership era (for lack of a better terminology).

Even if they don't fully rejoin, I expect the next generation of Brits to try and regain some of the abilities they had as a member.

If they do, they better learn their lesson and actually show up to the polls next time. It's one thing to be smug about a victory, it's another thing entirely to be smug about victory when you didn't do anything to earn it. I see young voters all the time say they just wont vote, they have a variety of reasons, but the only one that irks me is "I'm not voting but the person/outcome I want will win anyways." like, do people not understand that old, retired geezers have NOTHING better to do than to go out and vote?

German industry has already said they will be calling for a tariff-free trading arrangement with the UK. If an FTA is on the cards, as I think it is, we will likely return to relatively normal trade patters and growth. We could also get rid of tariffs unilaterally on imports, and some Tories in Canada have been calling for a post-Brexit FTA with us.

People need to remember that this is literally the same day as the results have been announced. Of course we're going to see volatility, especially in a market that evidently did not correctly price in the possibility of a Brexit.

At this point I'm basically backing Boris for PM. Now that Brexit is effectively secured, the main job should be making sure the globalist Brexiteers beat the nativist Brexiteers.

– Talking of which, who will win the next election? Which parties will fight it? When will it be? No idea.

– Shy Leavers. And I hesitate to say this, but the atmosphere of blame following the murder of Jo Cox will have been perceived by many as moral blackmail.

– The EU is holed beneath the waterline. People worldwide have seen that impossible things can happen.

– President Trump? His visit to these shores is spookily well timed.

– Prime Minister Cameron? – 2010-2016

– Don’t assume that the SNP actually wants another Scottish independence referendum. Right now a second indyref would have the same result as the first.

The US could learn a thing or two from this outcome and its reactions.
