Don't cross the red line and you won't get bombed.

Finally we have a REAL president

Nothing ever changes in 4 years does it?

I wasn't aware the requirement for Congressional approval was changed.
Presidents have done actions without congressional approval for a long while now. This doesn't really change that. Executive Office has gotten more powerful since FDR.

Or he could be like Obama and say don't cross a line, they cross it anyway, and he doesn't do anything. Or rather, his "actions" aren't as severe as he first made it sound. I understand he worked with Russia to do something.

Sorry, as much as I adore Obama's domestic policy, and him as a person in general, I felt his foreign one was horribly lacking.

So I'm confused

Do we wanna be friends with Russia and say that Assad isn't really that bad, the terror attacks are false flags, and Putin isn't actually a dictator and we should just be best buddies

OR

Is Assad evil and Trump can do no wrong by suddenly firing a bunch of missiles at a foreign power without congressional approval or investigations into the recent allegations?

Which one are Trump-bots spouting out, now? I've lost track.

I think he legit wanted better relations with Russia (as every leader coming in has tried), but once he took the office and got unloaded with the info and all the shit that comes with the job, he probably saw how impossible that was.

That's just my guess

Either way, being president has to be one of the worst jobs in the world.

To be fair, he did notify Russia that he was about to bomb a foreign government.

Btw, the President can take military action without Congressional approval. It's happened before iirc. They need to really because with how fucking slow Congress is, when you get attacked or need to attack (not talking about this, just in general), do you really expect Congress to vote on something that quickly? And what if they vote it down?

It's a shitty system where the President can do so, and Congress can say they don't support it and not fund it. Problem with that is having the "Not supporting the troops" brand under you when re-running for office, and the primary goal of any elected official is to get re-elected. So it's a catch 22 kinda thing.

That's smart, because the last thing you want to do is have some kind of entanglement with Russia and spark a diplomatic crisis like Turkey v Russia.

I don't want you to get the wrong idea, I'm in no way supporting Russia's behavior, but if someone were to injure a wolf, back it into a corner, and then continually prod it, they shouldn't be surprised when it lashes out. Yes, Russia is probably making their military appear weaker than it actually is, but it still has NATO bases surrounding their entire country (which have been there before they started doing sketchy shit mind you) and everyone is looking for any convenient excuse to completely go to war against them, Russia isn't going to pull another Crimea.

And on that subject, two wrongs don't make a right. Crimea being a part of Russia is something the West is going to have to acknowledge and deal with. Is it shitty? Very, I don't support it. But if you want to help a region, you don't do so by crippling the economy of the country they're fully integrated into.

You really think that would suddenly stop Russia from meddling in NATO countries where they're trying to fuck with elections left and right? Or making Finland feel ever so nervous? No, Russia has always been a piece of shit in that regard.

A lot of it is just bluster though because their military isn't nearly as bad ass as they'd want you to think. What happened to the ONE carrier they had? It broke down last I checked.

You bring up a good point. But iirc, someone raised the point to me that even when Russia had collapsed, they've constantly been harassing the border states near them. Forgive my quick reply, multitasking, but didn't they invade some nation in the 90's because they wanted to break off with them or something?

Either way, I fully expect a response by the Assad regime - and Trump is going to be walking a very thin line with this. Most polls show that Americans are tired of being involved in the Middle East, and sending our troops into another conflict would only gut approval ratings.

I'm pretty sure we'll just stick to bombs. We haven't directly attacked the Syrian's yet, so this would be the first O_O moment. Boots on the ground might be too much though.

Chechnya?

To be fair, there are already US troops on the ground in eastern Syria.

They "Invaded" Georgia a little over a decade ago; I use parenthesis because I don't count Russia supporting-Georgians opening the gates for Russian tanks to roll through to be an invasion.

but didn't they invade some nation in the 90's because they wanted to break off with them or something?

We knew the world would not be the same.
A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent.
I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita.
Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty
and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says,
"Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.."
I suppose we all thought that one way or another.
Just turned on the news, one of the news anchors said the Secretary of State said Russia has been incompetent.
We're fucked.

Funnily enough, my mother is actually very pleased with Trump's decision. It's the first time she's ever had anything positive to say about Trump, ever. Kinda bizarre, but I suppose she's always been an emotionally-driven person.

Yeah, we're gonna have World War 3 start over Syria lol.

You guys are way too jumpy. Nothing is gonna happen against the US. Keep in mind Turkey shot down one of their jets and the worst that came was >:I on both sides.

Not that one either, but yeah, Russia hasn't been this "omg leave us alone :(((" state like some people would have you believe.

"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.

Interesting. What mainly caught my eye was the thing where you said people were acting dead then opening their eyes. That's a pretty hefty claim. As for all this, it seems I need to do some more research of my own, which I'll get to this weekend.

Not right now since I just got Persona 5 though, but you've left me intrigued for later.
I'll have to find that one later tonight, the post was the bits I could remember where to grab them from at 1am.

Then again it seems rather moot given that as always team america just starts bombing the fuck out of things like the good little goyim that they are.
