Oh I can't do my schoolwork.
Oh I can't go to my job.
Oh I need a safe space cause I'm triggered by the news.
Oh I have PTSD.

Yes, the next generation's fear of policies that would inherently harm many of the values they stand for is something that would cause fear and upset.

Honestly, I feel bad for them. If they can't deal with this shit while still in school, theres NO CHANCE they'll ever be successful in the real world.

Get over it. The guy isn't even fucking president yet.

Protesting and crying in a corner isn't going to do anything. Maybe they should have thought about this before a bunch of them didn't even bother to vote.

Well guess what - these students that you are deriding as immature, spoiled, whatever word you wish to use, they will be taking control of governments, both state and federally, in 10-20 years. You may not like it, but it is going to happen.

I can guarantee you that none of the kids crying in a safe space will be involved in government in anyway.

I'd argue against your guarantees, but I was proven wrong in the past.

But I can assure you that I will be, so your "None of the kids" is already wrong.

I'm guessing they'll be very different people in 10-20 years. From what I understand, a lot of the Baby Boomers that were involved with the counterculture of the 1960s later became conservatives and Republicans, so I imagine the pattern will repeat itself in some form.

It will. Theres a reason older people lean more right. They are blinded by their college professors and actually develop a work ethic.

It's been shown that the older you get, the more conservative you get. Not everyone, but you know what I mean.

Well this is ironic. I expected this from Texas or some other deeply conservative state first.
I'd like to see them try. Their stance on 2A is going to come and bite them in the ass with a vengeance.
Nah they won't. No state would. People are just upset and venting.

No one's going to like this post, but after it's posted, I'll be actively avoiding all political discussion here for a length of time--for pretty obvious reasons. So I'm just going to get everything I want to say out now, because no one here hates Trump more than me.

I appreciate the attempt, but a 9 minute Colbert video is not going to change how I feel about this at all. I will NEVER accept Trump as my president, ever. His election has evoked in me emotions ranging from reclusive or violent behavior to even thoughts of suicide--the likes of which I haven't felt in over five years. There's not anything you or anyone else can say to make things better for me. Even if Trump were impeached or assassinated, as much as I want him to be, that wouldn't accomplish anything either. We would just get Mike Pence, who is 10x worse than the worst president we've ever had. Our balls are in a vice.

But you know what? I don't even want things to get better. I don't even want Trump to end up being a good president. Why would I? I want to continue hating him. And I want to continue hating his supporters. Because if he ends up doing "good," okay... Then what? Does that mean I'd have to start liking Trump? Fuck that. I want him to be the most horrible president ever. I want everyone in the world to be just as miserable and just as upset as I am. I don't want things to get better, because we don't deserve it. If America elects someone like Trump, we deserve nothing short of eight years of hell, with the Trump supporters getting the absolute worst of it. All I want is to watch them collectively eat their own shit and then die.

So no, there's literally nothing anyone can do to make me feel better. Except give the presidency to someone else. Someone who's not a conservative or a Republican--which obviously can't happen, EVEN IF Trump dies or resigns. We're fucking trapped, and it's all America's fault. It's all uneducated white college kids' fault. It's all white-washed minorities' fault. And fuck unification--I don't want to be unified with fucking anybody who's ever had a positive thought about Donald Trump. Whatsoever. They can all go straight to hell.

Every day since the election, I've been so drained. I don't have the energy to do anything. I just want to go home,  fall asleep, and never wake up again. I don't necessarily want to die or kill myself--I just want to sleep forever so I can be comfortably alone and at peace. And I think everyone else should feel the exact same way. Everyone should be depressed as fuck. No one should accept this. And absolutely nobody should just "move on." You're not moving on; you're being herded. I'm sorry if that upsets you, but it's the simple truth. It's the only outlook that makes any rational sense to me.

Here's a comforting thought: When Trump is through, I'll almost be 30 years old. 30 goddamn years old. And that's if I make it there.

By all means, call me a crybaby. Say I'm just overreacting. Say I'm just throwing a tantrum. It is what it is, and I'll wear my crybaby status with pride. But the bottom line is, in my opinion, if you are NOT currently prepared to throw an 8 year tantrum over this, I don't consider you a rational person. I don't consider you a principled person. You're complacent. You're acequiescent. You're submissive. You have no conviction. That's not me. That's never me.

"Never" is a word I'm going to be using a LOT over the next decade.

Are you implying Hillary would have even been better? I can't say if Trump will be better. But no matter who won, I wouldn't have really liked it. They're both shit. I can't say I feel all that sorry for illegals if they're deported. Maybe, apply next time? Teaming up with Russia and bombing the shit out of ISIS like he says would be cool too. I can agree with him on that.

You knowingly threw your vote away on Stein
It's not a throwaway if it's the only correct choice. One more vote for Hillary wouldn't have made a lick of difference, and I don't want her as president. Like a crazy person, I choose to vote for people who I actually want to be president. Maybe if everyone else thought the same way, we wouldn't be in this situation.

Quote
you have the nerve to go and throw a temper tantrum when the candidate you didn't vote for didn't win?
Yes.
Quote
You have nobody to blame here but yourself.
Why? Trump's president-elect because more people voted for Trump. That makes it the Trump supporters' fault.

I can't be blamed for something I did not and would never do--vote for Trump.

maybe fix the fucking immigration system
Yeah. But if you literally just hop over the border, you should expect to get sent back. You can't just walk into the country and call it home.

Well no. But if you are a child (or the children) of people who hopped the border and had no choice or say in the matter, why should you be sent back from what is arguably your home?

Immigration isn't just a black and white issue, because it would actually be pretty easy to solve. Building a wall only fixes the issue of accessibility, but fails to address the actual problems.

Not only that but the reason so many well meaning people come illegally is because the current system makes it impossible for them to do it any other way.

Also true.

Mhhm, I can't agree with that. I don't agree with her on much at all. Nor trump. Heck, not even Gary or Jill. Gary isn't even a Libertarian. But i'd still take him over the others.

You knowingly threw your vote away on Stein in a highly contested battleground state, and then you have the nerve to go and throw a temper tantrum when the candidate you didn't vote for didn't win? Literally fuck off. You don't even have a leg to stand on here. You live in a swing state, you threw your vote away, you suffered the consequences. You have nobody to blame here but yourself.

i'm sorry, but i just don't agree with this.

verbatim didn't throw his vote away by voting for someone unlikely to win. we should NOT be blaming those who actually vote for this outcome. this is on the 46% of eligible voters who just stayed the fuck home, on top of a few smaller reasons.

i don't agree with verbatim's stance on this whole ordeal but he makes an excellent point. he voted for who he thought should be president, which is more than can be said about most of his generation.
