How do most Christians feel about Adam and Eve as people? Contempt? Reverence? Indifference?

As a Christian, I've always felt a shade of contempt towards them, but I always remind myself that it's all part of God's great plan.

I honestly don't think they judge Adam and Eve in that way. I'd be surprised if they actually saw them as real people - as we would view an acquaintance - instead of just semi-mythical pseudo-humans.

In saying that, if they did - and took a nuanced approach - I imagine they'd feel a degree of contempt towards Eve and pity towards Adam, with a degree of empathy for each.

A *lot* of Christians interpret the Bible literally, especially in the US.

Still, though, I don't see how one could rationalize any form of contempt towards either of them. God basically fucked them both over by giving them the ability to succumb to temptation, and then he punished every person afterwards for it. I'd feel contempt towards him if I believe the story, if anyone.

But yeah, history has shown that churches like to point to the story of Adam and Eve to explain why women are bad and evil.

And those churches give us a bad rep unfortunately.

Not really. People like to blame Eve in that story, but when she gave Adam the apple she actually had no clue that 1. God said not to touch it and 2. that the snake was a bad guy. She had no clue. God only spoke to Adam, and when Eve gave him the apple he knew full well that he wasn't supposed to.
