If anything, I saw these protests as a way for the left to be rejuvenated after the crushing loss that fully showed the divide in the Democratic party. For as often as people talked about the Republican civil war, the Democrats were having one of their own, but it took this election to really draw it out.

Now these people are asking for a leader to lead them, and want things to change. I think people realize that their hubris let Donald win, and the media spinning it as though he had no chance, so why go vote? People were complacent and he won.

If anything, this election probably woke these idiots up who DIDN'T vote, because one can only ask "where were you 3 months ago?" But I understand why people didn't vote for Hillary, both due to Clinton fatigue, and all the baggage that came with her. So now the Democrats really need a leader, though preferably a young one.

It's not hard to get the Democrats back who voted for Obama or the working class white man, but they really need a message and a goal to rally behind. As stupid as MAGA was on hats, it was a rallying message. Democrats didn't have that.

So the next few years will present a challenge to see who exactly will lead. I'd put my money on Sanders, but he's in and out all the time, and the Democrats could really use someone younger who actually represents what these people want, rather than the same faces that've been in office with no competition the last 20 years.

the million dollar question is if this march will turn into action in any way, be it more effort on the local levels, or if it's just a one off. As much as I don't like the Tea Party, these people could take note and learn from how they came into office, and the efforts they went through on grassroots levels.

There were folks out here protesting even. Rare that my province ever gives a fuck about much of anything. Even with that, I don't see the point behind it. Even though I understand trying to make a point, it's largely useless when done in this manner.

These rallies only ever accomplish two things. They bring out the shitheads that like to loot and riot and cause trouble. And at the end of the day, they do nothing. Oh wow geez look at that, a one day message and then everybody goes home for the evening and goes back to work the next day.

I'll tell you what, if the numbers of people at these gatherings really wanted to make a message, and make it known, you know how you'd do it? Something along the lines of a famine protest. If everybody at these rallies stopped going to work for a week, two weeks, and completely stopped everything, and either stayed put or just went home but took no part in anything external, the entire system would buckle and crash.

That would make the message serious. That would make it heard. And boy would it get the point across. You make it known that you've put your collective feet down and that you're not moving until things change. The government, and especially the president, won't listen to fuck all unless they suddenly find enormous pressure on them.

Best way to do that is to completely throw a wrench into the system that they maintain. Otherwise, really, these protests accomplish nothing and will never be taken seriously by any high authority figures when everybody goes back home on the same day or the next day and contributes back into the system when they all go back to work and their lives.

The only message it shows is this.

You're angry enough to rant and rave, but you're not angry enough to get down into the mud and fight for what you're trying to say. You're not willing to give up what you have and stake everything on your belief. And that's why protests like these will NEVER accomplish anything concrete for the message they carry.

It's an impressive demonstration of a nonexistent platform. Paraphrasing my wife, but she resents their message that women must be liberal Clinton-supporters.
God forbid people disagree with the policies of an elected leader out of their own free will.

Not sure what point you're trying to make. These women's marches don't speak for her, yet claim to.
Just because they're called "women's marches" doesn't mean that they claim to represent literally every woman on the planet.

"Literally every woman", no. They were, however, established to be unifying as a show of solidarity, while simultaneously banning conservatives, Trump supporters, pro-life advocates, and those who oppose the ACA. In reality, they were entirely partisan despite being overtly presented as accepting all women (and men as allies).

I don't see how that means that women must be Clinton supporters.

My cousin was at the Boston protests. She's one of those impressionable autistic kids that could never fit in in school so she turned to Tumblr to find validation. She went full snowflake with "gender neutral" pronouns, a made up gender, a made up sexuality, and all. She then got this SJW "girlfriend" (She refers to the relationship with some snowflake term.) who is going to school for a Gender Studies major and is an even bigger Tumblrina than my cousin is and most certainly has some serious underlying mental issues in her own right.

Needless to say, the entire family is extremely disappointed. My aunt and uncle are about ready to kick her out and my side of the family has all but disowned her, because she's become so insufferable to be around. The Tumblr shit has gone to her head while her batshit insane "girlfriend" poisons her mind even further. She's SJW beyond salvation and the gas chamber would be a mercy at this point. It's extremely sad to watch.
wow, you have a family of worthless scumbags

Honestly, it takes a special kind of horrible family to disown one of their own over politics.

Yeah I'm sure it would be a real struggle to find pants that fit her.

It's very weird to see people so obese that their stomach fat hangs over their crotch.
