Goodness gracious, great balls of lightning!
Nothing.

North Korea won't do anything because Kim is smart enough to realize that he's screwed the moment he does. He and his elite are grandstanding to maintain the tension and keep themselves in the wonderful situation of power and wealth they're in right now.

The West won't do anything because it doesn't want to destabilize the world economy and the current status quo between China, US, EU and Russia, and because it's aware of the huge potential loss of life of innocent North and South Koreans.

Both sides know this of one another. The West knows NK won't do anything or Kim will lose everything in an instant, and NK knows the West won't do anything because it's a huge risk to millions of lives and the world economy / international relations. And then there's also this little thing of nuclear war in the area that pretty much everyone is hoping to avoid. Kim is just grandstanding because his position of power depends on millions feeding into this cult of his divinity facing the wicked America.
US dropped nukes on civvies and got away with it, whats stopping them now? Truman and the gang were hailed heroes. Trump could be known as the man who nuked a chubby demi-god.
Wow it's almost like Japan didn't have nukes to fire back with and they were engaged in a brutal war already.
Wow it sounds like you actually justify war crimes.
Shut the fuck up Sasha

Russia isn't so innocent either

NK was here. Everything I post is dead serious, no jokes.
I came here from b.net after a few Floods invited me. None of them post on either b.net nor here anymore, which is sad. After that, I fully moved here and have not returned to b.net since.

Whataboutism, sure. Yeah the reds did some questionable shit. WHats the point of 'free-ing' a country from Nazis if then you just invade it yourself after? lel. Anyway, nukes on civvies was a bad move. Surely someone here agrees that they should not have done that.

The US dropped nukes 70 years ago. Times have changed. Without getting into the morality of the WW2 nukes, I don't see anything similar happening.

One, we now live in the information age. Things that used to be classified military secrets are now public knowledge. The most powerful man in the world tweets more about his vapid thoughts than your average 16 year old white girl. News agencies cover everything related to the US and NK, from politics and economics to information on staff and whereabouts. We receive instant reports on every military test by NK and every troop movement by the US. In the 40's, people knew a lot less about the details of these events and what led up to them. It took a full day before the media even reported on Hiroshima, whereas we'd now know within minutes. People are now too informed and too engaged for something like this to happen without monumental controversy and outrage. The WW2 nukes and their actual impact were clouded in secrecy and uncertainty for year - something that would not happen now.

Two, we live in a global society. In '45 it was still every country for itself with little cooperation or insight sharing. We now have the UN, NATO and heaps of treaties and agreements. Countries depend on one another a whole lot more for trade, currency stability and a bunch of other stuff. While acceptable nearly a century ago, the "screw you guys, I'm doing this" attitude now will carry a lot more consequence and come with pretty serious side effects. The international community is much more tight knit and powerful than it was back then. Going against convention by doing something as serious as nuking another country would backfire tremendously.

Also, the US was actually at war with Japan. Tens of thousands of soldiers had died on both sides and many more lives would've been lost had the conflict continued. Dropping the very first nukes in such a situation is a lot different than nuking a grandstanding country with virtually no offensive capabilities whatsoever.

I got nothing
It's a lose lose situation.  NK launches a strike retaliation from the USA and her allies NK bomb's or nukes seoul. 10.8 million die.

Nk provoke fires a nuke at guam or japan USA and her allies retaliate seoul get hit with Tokyo 13.8+ 10.8= 24.6 million possible die

It's a lose lose if USA retaliate. Unless we use nuclear weapons on NK and obliterate them.

It's horrible. But that was to be a war that would've claimed more of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands. I don't want to justify the death of innocent with arithmetic...

But desperate times calls for desperate measures.

If I'm not here, I'm doing Geology. Or I'm asleep. Or hungover. One of those three, anyway.

If you want nameplates or modified images for avatars, pm me to your heart's content. I may or may not ever get around to them, I'm lazy like that, but I'll get around to them at some point. Maybe.
NK will just keep trailing along until either a famine gets too out of hand or the iron grip of the elite in the society falters and there's another refugee crisis. Famine is nore unlikely as CN/RU don't want to have their buffer zone/western distraction device backfire on them.

The news will keep churning out "oh he's test fired another one, the crafty bastard" or "Kim says he's got hydrogen bombs now, and 5 more in production".

We'll get used to it and joke about it as we did previously, only now about shoddy chinese nukes than NK's air-pump operated rocket program.

Like South Korean, I am more worried about the job market than this, actually I am more worried on what to wear tomorrow, and that is really something I do not give a fuck about.

All this political wrangling is to push US anti-missile batteries of Korea and maybe give China Dominion over the South China Sea.

Expect an atmosphere level test of a H-bomb next. After that it will likely be missile test to test where the payload will fall.

Should Crimea remain part of Ukraine or Russia?
Crimea should have stayed with Ukraine. I can understand why it was snatched up, but it was not done right. All sanctions are justified.

George Soros funded the Ukrainian revolution and Putin didn't want Crimea to become a Nato base.

Russia was just stupid. Should have made their own union like NATO and get RU allies to join that and build RU bases on their territories. Now all they can do is shake a fist at all the NATO bases that surround Russia and snatch countries that would become too risky if they join NATO. Obviously, this snatching is not a long-term solution.

Well they did make that CTSO thing with all those useless -stan nations that nobody cares about and Armenia too.
Pretty sure they're still working on a free trade pact with Isreal and trying to bring India and Egypt in to it as well, IIRC.

Kinda hard to make alliances and friends when your economy, borders, and government falls to ashes. I think they're slowly making allies now, but yeah it's in no way even within breathing distance of what NATO is.

Well China and Russia could form some kinda cooperation like they're doing now, but even then it's not nearly as close as people like to think. And Russia invading Ukraine more or less killed any Eastern nations wanting to be part of them again.

He was a great leader. He is tired, it is very obvious from the live chat sessions he does with citizens and in the shit that his subordinates do in the regions outside of Moscow.
The World Cup stadium - 'Zenit' Arena: One Billion spent, check out the state of it's grass

And the roof:

The new Space Port (Putin personally visited it and the admins of the site told him that everything will done right)
A few months later:

It says "Dear Putin VV"
The builders are not getting paid for the fourth month in a row

xD
I think I need to make a separate thread about the state of things in Russia and how shitty they really are.

Just tired leading the country. Its a really tough job and he was doing it for almost 20 years. He needs a break or even better - retire.
