ask yourself why their victim needed to be punished so harshly, and therein lies the answer to your second question—again, it's not about revenge, it's about getting rid of a dangerous person who is a detriment to society

call me hammurabi, but that's just how i feel, because i don't think i've ever been given any compelling reason to think that death-for-death is unreasonable

On the current topic: Is everyone approached by the police a murderer? Is suspicion of a crime proof of guilt?

I find it funny that the same people who claim the deep state are using crisis actors to lure our law enforcement personnel to take our rights are the first ones to blame the victims when abuses of the government happen. “Oh, he was high on pot, blue lives matter” yet when a white guy does it suddenly it’s a Project Jade Helm Operation involving FEMA Death Camps, the revocation of the Second Amendment and crisis actors.

Fuck all of you and your hypocrisy.

If all lives truly matter, THEN STICK UP FOR ALL LIVES.

The government does not have the right to deprive ANYONE of life. Certainly not on the suspicion of a crime.

You don’t have the choice of compliance or death. The police aren’t above the law.

It sounds quite heavy-handed to me, but Australia has an entirely different criminal climate to the US, whom I assume the thread is primarily directed at.

I understand Police in the US are trained to shoot to kill and react on a moments notice to any action deemed to be threatening - especially if it has the potential to produce a weapon.

For the most part in Australia, you’ll see Police being trained to arrest Civillians using the lightest possible force (although some officers are known to exercise it more than necessary). Tazers and Capsicum spray are the primary weapons used in apprehension with firearms being reserved for much higher scale arrests.

The drawback to this is it sometimes isn’t enough. There was an incident in Melbourne last year where pedestrians were killed by a guy going crazy in his car, and, whilst he was apprehended eventually, the matter could’ve been solved before any deaths occurred.

It all depends on how much force should be used in the situation, and that can’t really be judged in the time an officer is given to make the call.

1) Only in the defense of others. They volunteered for a hazardous job and received special training to do it.

2) Defense is a broad term. Lethal force is a last resort only.

Why should they get paid when they are not working? Police often times murder people unjustly as well.

No. The point of having a police force is to generate revenue for the municipality by enforcing unconstitutional traffic laws, drugs laws, prostitution laws, and liquor production laws. You are the primary provider of your own safety.
