"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.
They are the chosen people of God, and will bring salvation to all and end Satan's 10,000 year rule over Earth.

From Snopes:

Question: Do Salvation Army full members believe, as per the Salvationist Handbook of Doctrine, that practising homosexuals should be put to death? Why, or why not?

Salvation Army members do not believe, and would never endorse, a view that homosexual activity should result in any form of physical punishment. The Salvationist Handbook of Doctrine does not state that practising homosexuals should be put to death and, in fact, urges all Salvationists to act with acceptance, love and respect to all people. The Salvation Army teaches that every person is of infinite value, and each life a gift from God to be cherished, nurtured and preserved.

Question: Why include in your handbook the Romans text from The Bible, which indicates that God insists that homosexuals deserve to die?

This is a misunderstanding of the text referred to. The Scripture in question, viewed in its broader context, is not referring to physical death, nor is it specifically targeted at homosexual behaviour. The author is arguing that no human being is without sin, all sin leads to spiritual death (separation from God), and all people therefore need a Saviour.

Question: Isn't this inherently anti-Christian, to believe people should be put to death?

The Salvation Army acknowledges that the response in the interview has led to a serious misunderstanding of our teaching and that clarification should have been given during the interview. The Salvation Army believes in the sanctity of all human life and believes it would be inconsistent with Christian teaching to call for anyone to be put to death. We consider every person to be of infinite value, and each life a gift from God to be cherished, nurtured and preserved.

Question: Do you feel you owe an apology or explanation to all those gay and Lesbian volunteers and people your organisation supports?

The Salvation Army sincerely apologises to all members of the GLBT community and to all our clients, employees, volunteers and those who are part of our faith communities for the offence caused by this miscommunication.

I'm sure there are other sources about the rest of the allegations. I don't know how true or not they are, but I do know that Tumblr isn't even close to an objective source and that everything should be taken with a heaping helping of salt. Sounds like some of the SA folks aren't good people, though.

Am I biased in defending them? No, I have never donated to them and as far as I know none of the churches I've been a member of have affiliated themselves with them.

If there is any discrimination, that is unfortunate, but being a charitable organization I cannot really be against them. There are other charities I'd donate to first, like Habitat for Humanity, but at the end of the day the good Salvation Army does exponentially outweighs any bad. It's like comparing a pebble to Jupiter. It's not even close.

I've donated to them now and then, either boxes of stuff to charity shops or a few coins at the collection tins >.>

They do a good job and whilst there is a bit of a persistent rumour that they seem to be anti-gay, I couldn't really say whether that's true or not. There are other charities that I tend to give to a bit more though, and I wouldn't exactly say I'm close to supporting the SA. It's just that their charity shops are a good way to get rid of clutter that isn't just junk >_____>

Not really, because I personally think it's just an entertaining story by some guy that was left alone on an island with nothing to do until he died. I thought it was a dramatic enough statement to sound like it came from it.

OT: I've never heard anything bad about them other than the vague rumors that people there might take things for themselves if it's nice or something, but that just seems kinda silly to me. Don't see why they'd have any bias against gay people.

This past Saturday I saw two guys from SA on my way into Wal-Mart.  One was playing Christmas music on a tuba.

I put $10 into the tin when I came out of the store one and a half hours later and the guy was still playing.

We always say to fight fire, you must use fire. This is wrong. Fighting fire with fire will leave scars and a new flame will rise. We must instead use water. It is the opposite of fire, it extinguishes the fire, it cools, it refreshes, it heals. We are made up of 70% water, we are not made up of 70% fire. Please practice what we truly are
Meh.. I'll still buy clothes from them and Goodwill.. Why buy a single shirt for $15.. when I can buy two outfits for $15 at the handy down stores?

There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.
Love life; but take nothing too seriously.
It just looks like isolated incidents which could or couldn't be true, I don't just believe everything I see online. The fact of the matter is they help a lot of people which in the grande scheme of things is worth giving them the time of day.

I just bought a nice $200+ trench coat for $10 from them. No holes, damage, or unintentional markings on it. They look really good in my eyes
