With well over half of it going to military/Pentagon spending.

Quote
House Speaker Paul Ryan reached a deal late Tuesday on two major pieces of legislation: a $1.1 trillion spending package and a $629 billion package of tax breaks.

The $1.1 trillion spending bill includes $548 billion in defense spending, $518 billion in non-defense spending, and $73.7 billion in additional funds for the Pentagon for ongoing combat operations.

The package is made up of the 12 annual spending bills, which have been bundled into one "omnibus" spending deal that provides funding for the next fiscal year, through Sept. 30, 2016.

Just a snippet, full details in the link.

I think the military spending is ridiculous, especially with making more tanks. The Army has said they don't need anymore tanks, and there's a graveyard of them just rusting away in some Californian desert.  I'm pleased to see that the military servicemen/women are getting a pay raise (even if it is a meager 1 percent) and that housing situations are being addressed, but good Christ that's still a lot of money.

Oh, but Obama is the one spending us into oblivion amirite?

What happened to being fiscally conservative? I think Rand Paul is the only candidate who's championing that.

I came in here expecting a huge amount going towards military vehicles and I wasn't wrong. Why fix up run down neighborhoods or have a higher education budget when you could be making military vehicles that are not going to be used instead.

To keep assembly lines working, keep American workers employed, have a production facility if needed in the wake of global turbulence, and to sell to our South American friends.

"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.

Starting a lot of construction work in crappy neighborhoods could make plenty of jobs too. I don't think the suggestion was to shut the factories down, but to stop spending so much money on them when it currently isn't needed.

We also already have so many military vehicles that we keep selling them and still have leftovers. Would anyone happen to have any statistics on how much is made off of selling that equipment to other nations? I'm curious to see if they're breaking even.
