This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
I'll definitely say that the frequency at which I watched porn contributed to the overbroadened list of non-vanilla content that I enjoy and reinforced a desire for certain fetishistic ideas.

Porn and vidya are the same to me.

You play video games, and you become violent. You watch porn, and you dislike vanilla stuff.

I believe that there are some who respond to stuff extremely, but most people, or rather rational people can handle it.

Have you ever heard of the concept ragequit? It's when you become too angry with the game, so you just quit.

Personally I consider promiscuity to be a bad thing
Please explain why, I'm interested in knowing.

Quote
the easy access to porn desensitized you to what's naturally attractive
Like the others have said, this is a dumb argument and is akin to "violent video games desensitize you to violence so you don't care anymore". There's obviously a heavy amount of dissonance from watching porn and experiencing the real thing. Now, does porn give plenty of people WAY different expectations about sex in general? Yes, and I could see that argument being legitimate on your side, but as it stands, it's kind of...well, a non-argument.

Quote
causing more and more disgusting fetishes to become mainstream.
"I don't like X so it's bad that X is becoming accepted"
Come on, Chally, you're better than that

That's not violence.

Not even watching real violence online or movies can really desensitize or prepare you for the real thing.
I don't know why I wrote violent, but the word I meant to write was furious or something like that.

]My likes and dislikes are entirely irrelevant. This is about depravity and what I call sexual sickness. The lack of dignity and respect for intimacy and sex.
We do not want this sickness in Sep7, they eat the poo poo.

But seriously I don't get this, it hardly matters if someone wants to get a bit funky with it. Just because their definition doesn't match up with yours doesn't mean it's bad. After all it's between a few people in the bedroom, hardly effects you.

It doesn't bring happiness. It's momentary bliss, but you live a life full of regret. Just like drugs.
Okay, yes. Almost everything is "momentary bliss". Money is momentary bliss, friendship is momentary bliss, ANYTHING that's fun is momentary bliss. I've never understood this argument from either you or Verb - it doesn't make any sense. Just because something isn't permanent doesn't make it less valuable - else we'd all just be Tibetan Buddhist monks.

Quote
It has made people to not find the natural body attractive. People become more and more depraved in their sexuality
That's not how sexuality works at all. Sexuality and what people are attracted to is very much effected by society, the environment that they were brought up in, and latent mental things. It's ALWAYS been that way. It's not like humans have liked the exact same thing across the board for their entire history until porno magazines were invented and then we all changed.

For example, in the past, being plump and excessively pale was often thought of as extremely attractive because it inferred that you didn't have to spend the calories working to lose weight or the time outside to get a tan. Nowadays, since cheap food is often extremely unhealthy and low-paying jobs are low-effort (as far as workout is concerned), fitness and tanning show that you have the time and money to spend on leisure.

Sexual attitudes have always changed across the entire course of history. Don't turn into one of those facebook posts that old ladies plaster across their wall going "When did THIS become more attractive than THIS?!?!"

"My likes and dislikes are entirely irrelevant. It's just that I cannot view sex as anything other than an intimate act and view people treating it as something that doesn't have to be hidden and sacred as a negative, thus associating it with depravity."
Yeah, totally irrelevant.

Please, tell me how you've achieved nirvana - spin me a tale of your perfection of both body and mind and how you have become connected with the universe on a spiritual level, aligning your own trifecta of the soul, self, and spirit.

Or are you just some other college kid like pretty much everyone here?

Because I'mma guess that's the case.

Please, tell me why it's something I shouldn't go after. The way you phrase it, it even sounds like something to avoid. I'd love to hear the reasoning.

Because happiness is a byproduct. You don't want to go through bad things to get an ice cream, but when you're engaged in a project that you care about you don't mind having to go through bad stuff, and along the way you get the blissful moments.

That's my take on it.

Sex is naturally dignity free, and humans will do what's most pleasurable to them. Promiscuity isn't a bad thing whatsoever.

We have so many family values crusaders on this forum, it's actually quite hilarious.

I think that a big portion of this is about self-control. Which, to be honest, a lot of people lack when it comes to masturbation, pornography, etc. I'll 100% admit that I'm honestly getting bored of porn. Like I use to be able to watch basically anything sexual, and get sort of aroused, but nowadays, I really have to put effort into actually wanting to wack off. I wish I hadn't done it as often years ago, because I'm terrified I'm just not gonna be able to get as easily aroused when I need to.

And this is apparently an issue that a lot of people run into.

It's true. There's evidence that video games can induce short-term desensitisation, and it's not at all unorthodox to suggest that people who already have an innate proclivity for violence will indulge feed their impulses via gaming.

^ Pretty much this.

Promiscuity doesn't make people happier, and on the whole a woman's prior promiscuity is a good indicator of how successful her marriage will ultimately be. And, if we're being honest, strong marriages are pretty good for society. It's also irresponsible, especially if done without a condom.

That said, I don't particularly hold promiscuity against people. I think it's a net negative for society, but I can't say I judge those who fuck around. I am pretty promiscuous, partly because I'm impulsive and partly because I indulge my degenerate hedonism. So, I'm not one to hold it against others.

No, when sex is had because you want to have sex with some stranger with the idea that you won't meet this person again (promiscuity), then it is like taking drugs.

When in a relationship, sex is supposed to be done as a thing that will enhance the relationship.

...what?

How is that like taking drugs?

Personally, I'm all for a risk vs reward type of system, thus the reason I'm perfectly fine with taking drugs that aren't, like, crack cocaine or heroin or shit like that, but I can understand where you'd be coming from with that argument.

Sex isn't "supposed" to do anything. The single thing that sex is supposed to do is produce offspring, and everything past that is just something that we have invented as a society. Saying that flings are detrimental and a drain on society just because you don't approve of it is really, really dumb.

Reproduction takes the first priority, but the second is survival. A healthy family is desired, and for that to be the case you need a strong bond with your partner, and you get this through many different things where sex is one of them. Psychopaths for instance have a high sex drive, because having sex is a much faster way to strengthen the bond between two partners as it releases a lot of oxytocin. Society can't be discarded, because human are very social creature who at their core have let society take physical changes in them. We are for instance very good at reading facial expressions, and we can feel awkward.

Promiscuity is like taking drugs because you do these two for instant pleasure, then that's that. You're trying to achieve a byproduct. In the same way, reproduction and work are the same. You work and become happy as a byproduct. You have sex and there's pleasure as a byproduct.

Even if that was the case, it is better than them shooting up a movie theater or school. Let the games be stress relievers.
However, there are hundreds of studies proving that games don't make people violent sociopaths, at best it can bring passive agressiveness into a person, but not true violent behavior(not counting anyone with mental illness).

I'd say with games, regulated play brings way more benefits than bad behavior. However un regulated play could cause issues, but not enough for overly violent behavior.
