The moment you brought god into it, that's the moment I would fundamentally disagree. The world is just naturally cold, as is the universe. No religion can change cold hard facts on how life works.
Government is secular; religion affecting your personal views is one thing, but when you step into that office you set everything aside.
Ideally.

You don't think that if "God" (if he existed) created the universe as-is, he would be evil?

Just trying to understand your disagreement.
The fact people think god would even care about a race as insignificant as ours if he created the entire universe, is incredibly selfish and laughable.

This. It's been proven people use religion in US politics to push their retarded agenda. Just look at Mike Pence.

I agree--I just presumed that the creationists Gatorwhatever was arguing with were Christian--or, people who do believe that God cares about them personally, as he supposedly does. What I'm saying is, even if I gave this idea the benefit of the doubt, it creates a lot of logical conundrums. Namely, the Epicurean Trilemma.

I was also playing a bit of devil's advocate, because I can totally see why someone would consider natural selection to be evil.

Arguing with this guy. I just gave up. He wasn't completely stupid. But still, annoyed the shit out of me. I show him evidence, he says mainstream science is bullshit. Then I ask him for evidence, and he says the fact that math and earth and all exists, is evidence of God. Then I explain to him that we know how the earth was made for example, and he refutes that.
