If we actually cared about mental health, if we stopped stigmatizing those who seek help, if we stop conditioning people to believe that sexual abuse is the single worst thing that can happen to you and that the correct response to it is to lie on the couch and watch Lifetime movies until you kill yourself with a handful of sleeping tablets and a bottle of wine, maybe we'd see more improvements in the treatment, cultural perception, and personal struggles of the survivors of abuse. When that's realized, I would argue that ending an innocent life is far worse than traumatizing one.
Child molestation can easily be argued as worse than adult murder.

A traumatized life is far better than no life at all. You can get over trauma. You can't get over not existing. In your opinion...You know you do have a nasty habit of shoving your opinion down as fact. Meta has the same problem.

He deserved it and not just because he was a pedophile. I would be happy to see any kind of criminal get killed in prison.

Tell that to soldiers, sailors, pilots, and marines that get PTSD. Combat and rape are both experiences that will psychologically damage a person all their lives

It's usually hard, sure, but it's definitely possible. If you're killed, you have no chance of getting over it.
And death is a far better option than having to live a struggling life.
Quote from: Madman Mordo on October 01, 2014, 02:10:11 PMSome people who were molested as children would be rather be deadThen they should kill themselves. Life is the most important thing we have. It's our entire existence. Taking that away is leagues worse than traumatizing someone.

When someone lives through rape, they're going to have to live with that forever but if someone is murdered they won't remember it because obviously they're dead. The rapist deserved what he got, maybe not as brutal, but either way he deserved to die.

People ITT who are saying that everyone who's ever been traumatized will always live with it forever are simply wrong. There's a huge branch of therapy that deals specifically with trauma relief. And two, no one deserves to die. Ever. I don't care if we captured Hitler after WWII, the death penalty, or "righteous killings" that are punitive in nature, are never justified.
the death penalty is never justified
