it's always a choice between evils. we can elect a good man (or women) as president but nothing is going to change until we mobilize the voters for municipal/state and congressional elections.

There's the problem. Midterm election turnout is always piss-poor. Like, last year's one was at 33%.

Then you have people moaning about how shitty the Government is, yet their (in)action is what caused it. It's freaking sad.

the interesting thing is that, right now, we, the voters, have more of an ability to influence the government than any time before in history. the internet/information age has given us SO MUCH FUCKING POWER regarding our ability to share and process information; we are more than capable of uniting the irate masses and deposing the exploitative oligarchs. why we arent doing that is beyond my comprehension. i guess at the end of the day, we're still too stupid to help ourselves.

And there lies the problem! We could easily do that, but noooooo. My mom and brother are like that, it's so annoying. They always just say "hurr both parties suck so im not gunna vote". But my mom's a Republican, so maybe it's not so bad that she's not voting.

Some things are more important than others. Of course infrastructure and law systems are important, but I don't see all of human society crumbling if a libertarian is elected. There are very few issues I would put above body sovereignty in terms of importance. And before you get all "lol u just want to do drugs" on me, my lifestyle wouldn't change a bit if my social vision came about. To me, saying that two consenting people can't do whatever the hell they want to themselves is just wrong. Would I hire a hooker, get married to my sister, do heroin, or assist in a suicide if this came to fruition? Of course not. But those are all basic rights. If you're only affecting yourself and consenting others, it's straight up immoral to prohibit that.

These things sure are priorities when we have high unemployment, kids starving, a high crime rate, homeless people.

It's the principle. Things like unemployment and crime will never go away. We might as well live in an ethical society while we combat them.
