This is a surefire way to make Republicans oppose Net Neutrality.

Didn't take long

Never missing an opportunity to remind America how much he resents Obamacare, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) took to Twitter Monday to lash out against President Barack Obama's net neutrality endorsement by comparing it to the health care law.
>ted cruz
Your point? Cruz is likely one of the front-runners for the next presidential election. He isn't a nobody.
He's a joke
I certainly don't disagree. But a good number of Republicans think he can be the next President of the United States.

Rand would be a far better pick

That REALLY isn't saying much though.

Isn't he Canadian-born?

Wouldn't that be funny, if Democrats turned the birther bullshit back on the Republicans.

Considering they didn't do that to the Panama-born McCain I doubt they'd do that to Cruz.

Was that before the whole shit fest against Obama though?

Of course, Cruz has confirmed he was born in Canada, showed his birth certificate, and denounced his Canadian citizenship so the Dems don't have much to tug on

It  came up during the election that McCain wasn't actually born in the US, but democrats never pushed it even though McCain could have technically been ineligible in the running due to how ambiguous the "natural born citizen" clause is and how there's never been a consensus on just what qualifies as one.

They considered it to be a silly and frivolous waste of time just like the whole Obama birther shit.

Whatever the case though McCain  is a US citizen (and has been his entire life, just like Obama) and he might as well be considered a "natural born" one, whatever that means.

My only concern with treating internet as a utility, is that ISPs will likely start charging you based on how much you use, rather than a flat monthly fee.
I don't see what's wrong with that.
Because servers are constantly running at 100%, regardless of how much data is being sent through.  If there are enough servers to handle 10TB of information per second, and only 7TB of information is being sent per second, ISPs don't shut down the extra 3TB worth of servers.  It's not like electricity where the amount of power being produced has to be equal to the amount of power being consumed.  The value placed on data by ISPs is completely superficial.

"Net neutrality puts the government in charge of determining Internet pricing, terms of service, and what types of products and services can be delivered, leading to fewer choices, fewer opportunities, and higher prices for consumers."

I lold. Where I live, I don't really even have a choice. It's either AT&T DSL or unreliable, overly-expensive satellite, as there isn't any cable service in the area.

Like any of Obama's legal documents mattered to Republicans...

I do agree with this. Nowadays the internet is an important thing to have just like running water. Sure you can go to a library to use their computers, but that is a pain if you're not by one and even if you are. With the importance of internet it should be something that is widely available and without retarded limitations instead of the joke it is now.

Care to elaborate?
throttling your internet unless you pay a stupidly large fee, allowing ISPs to throttle certain websites, the extremely retarded high prices that ISPs force people to pay, the gigantic monopoly that Comcast, and other shitty ISPs hold.

Besdies what Mega said there's also the speed thing. If you want faster internet you have to pay more. So it's basically what Apple does with their iPods and phones. You're paying out the ass for a download to be faster when in reality there's probably no reason for the better speed to be higher than the lowest speed.

Anyone against net neutrality either doesn't know what it is or is being paid handsomely to be against it.
