We always say to fight fire, you must use fire. This is wrong. Fighting fire with fire will leave scars and a new flame will rise. We must instead use water. It is the opposite of fire, it extinguishes the fire, it cools, it refreshes, it heals. We are made up of 70% water, we are not made up of 70% fire. Please practice what we truly are
Meanwhile.. in the same location.. cost of all goods/living goes up $5 more dollars. I know.. Let's raise it some more!
Not true.

What people fail to realize is that raising the minimum wage on a local scale usually boosts the local economy...if that wage stays isolated to that locale (i.e. the cities surrounding the area don't raise theirs).

Problems with raising the minimum wage come into play when it's raised on a state or national level.
So then tourists who come from poorer areas will have less buying power? Awesome!

The difference is that tourists choose to vacation in these places, and it's only for a limited time. The people who live and work in these areas need the bump in pay in order to stay living there. Often, moving out of the area isn't an option when your whole life is already established there.

If I live in backwoods Mississippi, I don't go to San Francisco expecting everything to cost the same.

The cost of living already went up before the wage hike.  Obviously a wage hike wasn't the cause.

That's already the case when you vacation from any poorer region to a richer one.  Hell, even traveling from Lexington, SC (where I live) to Charleston, things are expensive as hell down there at local shops and restaurants (read as: tourist traps), despite the fact that the minimum wage is the same.  It all has to do with demand.

A hotel in Vegas is going to cost you more than a hotel in Pensacola.  It's just basic economics.

Dat inflation of course. But a national raise would raise the cost of living. How else can MOSt businesses afford to pay all their workers more if they decided to not cut their hours?

I don't disagree with you there.  A national minimum wage increase is a terrible idea.  But when minimum wages are increased on a local scale it doesn't cause all of the problems you're concerned with.
