Aluminum can only take so many oscillations before rending like butter(well, comparatively), although I cant remember what the limit is. Like I said before, guys, flight time, cycle count, and TSO numbers are a lot more important in figuring how reliable/safe an aircraft is going to be than it's age. And even then... I can't speak for European regulations, but the FAA and manufacturers will time out a commercial aircraft's wings well before you should worry about them falling apart from general wear, and time extensions require extensive engineer support per aircraft. I just don't see the motivation for Challenger's thoughts as viable.
