Aluminum can only take so many oscillations before rending like butter(well, comparatively), although I cant remember what the limit is. One of the prices we have to pay for reduced weight of the aluminum.I'm still unconvinced that this is just some big coverup. Have they released the tapes?

Like I said before, guys, flight time, cycle count, and TSO numbers are a lot more important in figuring how reliable/safe an aircraft is going to be than it's age. And even then... I can't speak for European regulations, but the FAA and manufacturers will time out a commercial aircraft's wings well before you should worry about them falling apart from general wear, and time extensions require extensive engineer support per aircraft. I just don't see the motivation for Challenger's thoughts as viable.
