This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang but a whimper.

So does Bernie Sanders and Jeremy Corbyn, what's your point?

Outliers are so named for a reason.

I thought Bernie Sanders wasn't a socialist.

True, but in context:

Quote
Yet millennials tend to reject the actual definition of socialism — government ownership of the means of production, or government running businesses. Only 32 percent of millennials favor “an economy managed by the government,” while, similar to older generations, 64 percent prefer a free-market economy. And as millennials age and begin to earn more, their socialistic ideals seem to slip away.

So what does socialism actually mean to millennials? Scandinavia. Even though countries such as Denmark aren’t socialist states (as the Danish prime minster has taken great pains to emphasize) and Denmark itself outranks the United States on a number of economic freedom measures such as less business regulation and lower corporate tax rates, young people like that country’s expanded social welfare programs.

Really, we're talking along a spectrum of welfare capitalism/social democracy to market socialism.

All that free stuff is nice and all. Paid leave for parents with newborn. College, healthcare, etc... But I ain't paying for all that crap with my check. Nope. Those countries do seem to be better off than the US, but I'd still have to decline. Heck, if it was up to me, I'd cut out nearly all government help. Disability, Unemployment, all of it. As someone mentioned earlier... I know of several people who sit at home all day doing drugs and collecting checks. I work 40 hours a week. Not counting taxes removed, I make about $1832 a month. $21,000 a year just about, that's not really enough to live off of if you live on your own and pay house notes, car notes, gasoline, electric bill, water bill, sewer bill, internet bill, TV bill, etc... Yet the "poor" people can sit at home with their 6 kids all day in their Detroit looking neighborhood, paying less for everything because of their status, while collecting $600+ monthly checks.
