When a UK citizen says "we should have stricter immigration control" they generally mean A) remove the EU backed privilege to move to any country without that country being able to reject you (unless you have a particularly egregious crimes in which case either the parent country wants you back and we send you packing or they don't and we have to stick them in our prisons) and/or B) put a system in place so when people cross the border without identity we don't have to shelter them.

Those are covered through grants and tax-credits usually, subsidies are long-term deals to keep the farms alive regardless of the market's response. Most farming in the US is subsidized.

So what I'm gathering here is that wind farming isn't cost efficient and require government assistance to operate? I know that most produce farmers wouldn't be able to live without government help, but you'd think since you don't have to feed windmills...
