I'm not really sure that you can define normal. Because overtime, "normal" was governed by many different standards. Plus, if you add every single form of human interaction, action, and reaction into the mix, and apply it to the sheer number of people that currently exist, well, technically everything that we do is "normal."

And of course, Nuka's statements ring true as well, if we're going to wander in that particular direction.

Which we obviously don't. There are homosexual animals out there in nature, and since we can't read animal thoughts and since they obviously can't talk there's no way to know if they think they are the opposite sex. Just wow.

No it's not, because we can actively see homosexual tendencies in nature by animals, so it isn't abnormal. And the argument that "we can't read their thoughts" to know whether or not they're 'struggling' with transgenderism is such an abhorrently stupid argument it isn't even worth the thought. Most animals don't even think or have forethought in the first place - they act on instinct. If you've taken a positive psychology course, you'd know this.

idk if I'd go as far as to categorise transgenderism as abnormal or a mental illness. There are transgender people out there that live perfectly normal happy lives like the rest of us.

Nobody's getting hurt; and people are becoming more progressive and accepting of a group of individuals who seem to be very poorly understood and ridiculed. I don't have much interest in the whole issue of gender dysphoria, and what amount of societal influence or honest biology contributes to it. I look at the overarching problem, and think that transgender people should absolutely have a right to their own happiness if they believe that they would be happier as another sex.

I communicate with a few transgendered individuals regularly, and they are all incredibly genuine, wonderful people. They're not some psychological mishap, they just don't feel right in their bodies.

Let people be happy.

I have nothing against them being whatever gender they want to be but if there is research being done on how to make their brain right I would support it. I see no harm being done by getting rid of or actually treating the source for them wanting to be male or female. To me dealing with the problem makes more sense than giving in to it which could still leave you with a problem as well. Being born male or female is completely different than changing your appearance to look like one. That right there isn't going to change no matter how many people accept you. Even if you do get the surgery and are taking hormones you could still be depressed about not being born that sex which could led you to suicide. To me treating the problem is a lot more helpful than giving into it.
