He's 'good' by republican standards which still means insane on a number of issues. Wanting to pull out of the UN is not the sign of a competent politician.

Its going to be a handful of years before the Republicans reform. Hopefully the dems won't fully devolve into identity politics before then.

You don't think these are wrong?

Fags go to Hell, ocean ecosystems don't need protecting, everyone has a right to own a gun, universal healthcare is a stupid idea, and the USA has always been a Christian nation.

You shouldn't make it so obvious when you're trolling.

But I'm not trolling? It says explicitly in the Bible that being gay is a sin.

I really hope for ISIS we just stick to using drone strikes and a few bombing raids if needed. We really should stay out of this and let it just be their problem. That's what we should have done for WW1. Japan did attack us so it was a good idea to have war against them, but we might have been able to avoid war with Germany if we told them we weren't going to have any hostilities against them. WW1 on the other hand though was just a pointless war for us. We just sent our boys to get killed or injured for no reason at all.

>implying flat tax isn't a great idea

stay mad poor fag
Anybody who thinks a flat tax is a good idea has such a piss poor understanding of basic economics that the only appropiate response to them is:

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

>"Poor understanding of economics"
>Is a poor fag who can't afford shit

Why do poor people call themselves the best economists? Because they have no economy

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
I'm poor? LOL

Taxing people who make $20,000 a year the same as the people who make $2,000,000 a year is just laughable. Take an economics class in college or something, or do some research. Holy shit this is basic stuff.
Uh 17% of $2,000,000 is still more than 17% of $20,000.

And this. Lower income classes won't have it any harder, really.
People making 20k need every fucking penny they earn. Someone making 2m wont feel it as much, even though the total is more.

So it'd be no different from how it is now, people will still save and earn up what they need. Also you imply people making 2 million a year won't need every penny either, when to earn that you'd likely be running a business that needs all the money it can to sustain itself. In the end both a 20k salary and 2 million salary have the same problems.
OH NO SOMEONE MAKING 2 MILLION A YEAR CANT AFFORD THEIR 4TH VACATION HOME AND BENTLEY

OH NO SO SAD

I FEEL SO DEEPLY FOR THEM

You should, they earned it for themselves and people like YOU want to steal it away from them.

As for the "shitty mortgage" bullshit example, maybe those people shouldn't be stupid as to buy a house with a salary just above the poverty line and should manage their expenses. Or better yet, get a better paying job. Man, you make it sound like every 20ker is either a dipshit who can't delegate spending or is always struggling.

Jobbies lol

There are better ways of fighting terrorists than basically criminalizing every citizen you're supposed to be protecting.

Let us, for argument's sake, say that we establish a flat tax of 20% for all employed adults. And also for example we have three individuals, all are the head of a single-income household with two kids.

If Example A brings home $24,250 a year [the national poverty line for a family of 4], they pay $4,850 in tax, leaving them with $19,400.
If Example B brings home $40,000 a year, they pay $8,000 in tax, leaving them with $32,000.
If Example C brings home $100,000 a year, they pay $20,000 in tax, leaving them with $80,000.

Example A needs every penny of their income they receive in order to stay afloat. There's no way they own their own home, even a shitty one, and they're probably renting in a bad neighborhood with the kids sharing a bedroom. They have zero savings or emergency fund.

Example B has it a little better, but the difference between the $6,000 they would pay in the 2014 tax bracket and the $8,000 they would pay with a flat tax gives them a small livable cushion, but they're still pretty screwed if something bad happens.

Example C, while paying the largest amount of money in tax, still has $80,000 at the end of the day, which is plenty to support a family with.

Obviously it's better to tailor your taxes to what your income is. Is charging higher incomes a higher rate than lower incomes is the best of the options, and lower incomes get fucked over less. When the lower incomes aren't getting fucked over, they have more money to spend participating in the marketplace. When more people participate in the market place, the more our economy grows and the better off we all are.

The secondary problem with a flat tax is establishing an effective rate. It needs to be high enough to produce a substantial revenue [which fucks lower incomes harder] but low enough that it doesn't fuck people too hard [but brings in substantially less revenue]

And how many workers, do you think, who do think of themselves as exploited proletarians actually end up becoming millionaires?

Because I guarantee, whatever the poor situation social mobility is currently in, the Marxoids are doing badly precisely because they're Marxoids.

It's not even about socialism and marx, really; you can take that out of the quote entirely and it still rings true for so many Americans. They aren't poor and getting fucked, they're just temporarily down on their game and mildly inconvenienced; they'll be rich soon, don't worry. They eat that shit up because it makes the feel less shitty about the situation they're in.

But it doesn't work that way. We can't all just...become rich.

When everyone is rich no one is rich.  Wealth inequality will always exist in a market economy.

This is true. But we shouldn't encourage exacerbating the issue by adopting something like a flat tax. We need varying tax rates. "One size fits all" does not work for us.

I tend to favor Milton Friedman's proposal of a regressive tax system where if you make below a certain threshold you receive money from the government, and once you're over that threshold you enter progressive tax brackets that eventually reach a flat tax rate of 20-30%.

^ This

He called it the negative income tax, and it's basically a guaranteed income for people earning nothing with wage subsidies for people earning something up to a cut-off point. Best welfare/tax system I've come across.

I could get behind that. But the right will demonize such a system as encouraging people to be poor, etc etc etc

Thing is, the only way I can see it really working is if there's a massive overhaul of the welfare system, since the money you receive from the government is supposed to serve as your "welfare".

I do imagine that a lot of this would cut what little fraud there is, since welfare would be dealt purely with cash.  I also wonder what society would be like if the minimum amount of money any citizen could receive per month was $300-500.

Actually, it's one of the few systems both the Left and the Right seem to agree on. (Provided the Right in question aren't a bunch of spastic, uber-libertarian Austrian-schoolers). The way it works is that the government tops-up any extra earnings you make, so there's always an incentive to earn more.
