It's looking more and more likely that some, or all, of Obamacare will be repealed come the start of the next Congress. Republicans in Congress have already voted for it's repeal some 50+ times, and President Trump will without a doubt support the repeal.

So, where do we go next? What will it look like post-Obamacare? What about bipartisan provisions in the legislation that, arguably, can't be funded on their own?

Trump apparently wants to keep two key things.

Can't deny someone due to pre-existing conditions

and children stay on parents healthcare until age 26

Other than that, it will most likely get replaced, but it won't be as sudden as people thing. It's going to take a while to actually offer a new plan, implement it, and get people to slowly go over. Obamacare will probably still be available for people until a certain date, but they wouldn't cut it off suddenly because then they'd have millions upon millions of people without it, and that would cause a disaster.

Problem, particularly for the first one, is that it's funded by the mandate that everyone buy healthcare - basically that the young and healthy are helping to cover those who need healthcare the most. It's also the same mandate that Republicans in Congress hate and seek to repeal.

So the big question is how they plan to keep these two portions, while essentially removing how it's funded.

I haven't done much research into the U.S. healthcare system. From what I've heard in a few of Obamas talks and general online chatter, Obamacare was implemented in a rush as Democrats had the majority of the legislature at the time and so all the kinks and imperfections were for the most part glossed over. After losing the majority, democrats were unable to improve and append the legislation due to an obstructionist conservative Congress. Right so far?
